Has anyone been to the Big Island of Hawaii? We are planning on going in May. We are getting a giant vacation house with a pool near a beach. I have never been to the Big Island. What are the must do/ see/ eat? We like to eat, drink, sight -see, hike etc.
Here's my list so far: Volcano Snorkel Parasailing (I've never gone) Luau Green Sand Beach Bubba Gump Hike to a Waterfall
Get Hawaii The Big Island Revealed. It's a must have. Get the most current edition.
If you can swing it, the helicopter trip is worth it. You can also rent a plane for around the same price. I liked the plane better because we got to decide what we wanted to do and he even flew us over the penis pool. tropicbirdflightservice.com/ We had a great experience with Tropic Bird Flight Service.
Yes fantastic! Any other vendor recommendations? For snorkeling or anything?
I swam with the dolphins with this company: www.konaoceanadventures.com/ I liked them and would do it again. It's a fantastic experience. I probably swam with 20+ dolphins including tiny babies that you could see nursing.
Not to be a downer but Do some research about these dolphin tour groups. They mess with the sleep cycles of dolphins and disrupt them by doing these tour.
I heard that the four seasons brunch is good. A lot of people enjoyed Da Poke Shack the last time I was there. There is a ruth chris on the island and its good of course (chain though). Ray's in Kailua-Kona is not bad.
Laua's kind of suck in my opinion so I would skip that. ha. They are usually pretty pricy too.
We stayed right across the street from Da Poke Shack! Sooo good!!

Da poke shack is Aca-amazing! H and I were just talking about how we were craving poke from there! Also check out the farmers markets for fresh fruit and veggies. If you like really good Japanese food and Sushi, go to Teshima. It's a must everytime we go.
