I was listening to the radio and they talked about this article put out by the guardian. I don't care how healthy/tastey it is - I will absolutely not be eating dirt.
Excerpt:
"Yes, chefs such as René Redzepi and Heston Blumenthal have been fashioning delicious foodstuffs into fake soil for years, but we're talking actual earth. Last year, the Tokyo restaurant Ne Quittez Pas introduced a soil-based menu, including dirt and potato soup, dirt risotto with sea bass and dirt ice-cream. According to Yoshihiro Narisawa, a chef from another Tokyo restaurant, soil is rich in umami. This could catch on."
I also hear that bugs are a thing now too. I know miso blogged about a place with bugs a few years ago. I've been hearing about more and more places using bugs on the menu.
Besides the taste and the idea of it, how would you eat it with out hurting your teeth? I have eaten veggies that I didn't wash well enough and biting into sand particles is not fun.

Nope. Not happening. My doctor told me to come in if I started craving odd things. On that list was laundry detergent/soap, ice build up from the freezer and dirt. So I'll pass.

Because it's going to taste like dirt and it will turn into mud when it mixes with your saliva?
And? So?
Do you know what dirt tastes like? I don't. Why not try and see? Maybe it's good.
I just don't see the big deal about trying. If it's bad, you don't need to eat it again.
Lol I remember trying dirt as a kid. Another kid dared me. I tried red clay dirt and brown dirt. Neither were something I would want to try again.
Maybe this is special dirt, and I just had bad dirt, though.
ETA: I'm not opposed to anyone else eating it. If I were at dinner with my H and he ordered it, I might try a bite off his plate. But I wouldn't order it.
Yes, I know what dirt tastes like, and that's why I won't be eating it as part of a meal.
So...then you've already tried dirt.
Why are you so adamantly opposed to my trying it?
I'm not opposed to you trying it, just trying to give reasons, based on my experience, why you might not want to. And why I won't be doing it again. My mother gave me the same warnings, and I tried the dirt anyway, so there you go. Who knows, there is probably quite a range of dirt flavors and maybe not all of them are as awful as the one I tasted.
