DD will be five weeks old tomorrow and grew out of nb at three weeks - some probably could have still fit her width-wise, but her legs grew really quickly and she could no longer stretch them out straight in nb sizes, so she's now in 0-3 and 3 month.

Birth weight was 10#, dropped to 8 lb 12 oz. 20.5"
She wore Nb (almost all Carter's) until 3 weeks. She was swimming in a 0-3 outfit at her newborn pics when she was 8 days old. I had maybe 7 NB outfits, all one piece sleep and plays. I had some onesies with pants that were hand me downs but we never wore them. Too much hassle with all the diaper changes and stripping her down for feedings to wake her up.
We are now into 0-3 with room to grow. She's 11 lb 4 oz. and will be 4 weeks old tomorrow.
Hmmm..... I only have 0-3 clothes. Will I regret this? Now I'm getting nervous.
I had very little NB stuff, my mom ran to Target and grabbed a few sleepers when we saw how big 0-3 was - you wouldn't need much - you might just wait and see
We brought her home at 4 lb 4 oz and 18.5 inches. Two weeks later she is just at 5 lb. We are going to be in NB size for a while. I just ordered 2 NB dresses and cardigans for her because I am tired of seeing her in sleeping gear and boring white kimono shirts.
I also had read on here not to have too much NB stuff and removed a lot of it from my registry. People bought it anyways. Both grandmas were so ready to buy her clothes, so we assigned specific things for them to buy after she came home.
Someone gave me a Carter's preemie outfit that fits her body but she is too lanky for the arms and legs.
The boys were just over 5.5lbs at birth and were in preemie clothing and diapers for about a week. Then they moved to NB clothing but still P diapers for maybe another week or two.
At around 6 weeks they started needing the 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. At 7 weeks one weighed 10.5 lbs and the other 9.5 lbs. Both are just over 20 inches long.
And I agree that the length was more the issue than their bulk. I don't know why they don't make onesies longer.
I realized I didn't have many newborn outfits, so went out and bought a couple. I guess I wasn't sure how long he would be in them. The doctor said she thinks he'll be around 8lbs. or so at birth, so I wasn't sure. A lot of them say up to 8 lbs.
For us it was more about length when we moved than it was about weight. Her sleepers were becoming difficult if she wanted her legs straight ever. We switched sleepers a few days before her weight finally gave us a need to switch her pants, at which point we switched onesies too even though she would've been fine for probably another week or so in them.

About 2 weeks. He was 7 lb 4 oz 19.75" long. He is alll torso and the cloth diapers certainly don't help. I probably could have stretched them another week or two if I'd bought onesie extenders sooner. These things. Certain brands just run way too short in the body for my kid so it allows him to wear some of the cute hand me downs we're given.

DD is 7 weeks old and in 0-3 month clothing now. She started to outgrow NB around 4 weeks. She was 7 lb 9 oz at birth and is somewhere close to 11 lbs now.
