Ok. I really wish I want starting these posts regularly... But I know the time difference is partially to blame. My children are also to blame...
Dd2 tonight. So far. Wake up #1 at 3.45 so a couple hrs better than last night. 6hrs worse than her best........ 4/5hrs worse than what was normal a few weeks ago!
namasteak I try not to change if at all possible during the night. If I do a change it's before she feeds. MOTN feeds send her to sleep so I don't want to wake her after she's fed!
I got 2 hrs sleep just now. Dh has a cold and now dd2 is getting more snuffly. Another long day ahead. No, 6.15 is NOT up for the day here...
I feed DS on one side, give him a chance to poop if needed, change diaper and then feed on second side. 98% of the time I can put him down in a poop-free diaper.
DD keeps moving herself to sitting then can't figure out how to lay back down. I've rocked her a few minutes then put her down twice and she keeps sitting back up. Guess you have to figure it out on your own then, lady!
DD went to sleep at 8:15 and we're on wake up no. 1 at 1:30. At her 2 month pedi visit this week we were told that because she has gone up to 8 hours between feedings, she is now biologically capable of going at least 8 hours. So we're experimenting with not feeding MOTN until the 8 hour mark (if she doesn't seem that hungry). Last night I caved and fed her after 15min of fussing, but tonight she's pretty calmly taking a pacifier but won't fall asleep. I'm an hour in and debating feeding her just to make her fall asleep but she's taunting me by seeming to get sleepy. Has anyone else tried this? She's 10 weeks old.
Up with a feverish baby. No idea of temp, but she was hot enough to administer meds, that's for sure. DH just took her to watch sesame on the iPad until it breaks, which will hopefully be in the next 15 mins or so. Guess I'll be staying home from work today.
DS's first day with Grandma must've worn him out because he slept 7 HOURS AND 22 MINUTES for his first stretch! Holy shit, I haven't gotten that much sleep since October. I know he'll be back to his usual 4ish hours (or less!) tomorrow, but I sure as hell enjoyed it tonight.
I feel lucky that she doesn't complain about room temperature breast milk. She only took about 20 mL at midnight before finally passing out but I had heated 3 oz. I fed her the rest when she woke up an hour ago. Felt good to just pick up the bottle from the night stand and give it to a crying baby who just wet herself during the diaper change and is sitting in her diaper because I don't have the patience to do a 15 snaps outfit on a crying baby.

My kid is apparently legit hungry. Or he has at least conned me into going downstairs for food. We are on night 4 of 2am wakings. He is just so awake!!
Eta: nope, not hungry.... Just wants to talk & play. Oh joy.
Dumb question - how do diaper changes work at night? Is it just a "whenever they wake up" thing or should I do it before/after he eats (every 3 hours right now)?
I would nurse him on one side. Wake him up for a diaper change (because he always pooped) and then nursed the other side hoping he didn't poop again before I was asleep and oblivious.
Wakeup #2. He didn't eat a ton, just a little snack, time to pump once I get him back down. I'm hoping with DH home I can start sending him in for the wakeup that is 2 hrs after the first and he will ba able to get him back down

No, sleep is my priority so I do whatever it takes to get him go back to sleep asap. I'd go nutty being awake for an hour MOTN. And just because she's 'biologically capable' doesn't mean she will always be able to go 8 hours. I get not feeding at every wake up but 8 hours seems very long for a 10 week old. 8:30-1:30 is a good long stretch of sleep at that age.
Ah, see an hour is a pretty normal time for a MOTN wakeup/feeding for us - until quite recently feedings took 40min (20 on each side). Lately she's sped up and become less lazy so feedings are quicker now. For her, 8:30-1:30 is actually one of her shortest stretches, so I'm hoping she doesn't regress to it permanently. Anyway, she fell asleep briefly about 15min after my last post, but woke up within a minute so then I fed her to get her to stay asleep.
Just coming in here to complain about being up with N from 11:45-1:30 last night. Not sure why; he would lay back down and sleep for 20ish minutes before crying again. Rinse & repeat 647823 times . So frustrating!
