What kind of oven mitts do you use?

I'm thinking about purchasing a new set and there are too many options out there now!! Square potholders, cloth oven mitts, silicone oven mitts, half cloth/half silicone oven mitts, terry cloth oven mitts, ones with or without a place for your thumb..... I've even seen suede ones now. So what do you use?

I love it, mostly because the nonslip stuff on the inside helps me open jars and bottles I can't otherwise open.

I have some other mitts that I got cheap at Target but they're not as nice. They're just cotton.

I have approximately 3000 potholders/oven mitts. People just give them to me, I swear, it's like I go around wearing a shirt that says "give me potholders, please"

I do not care for the silicone ones because they eventually transmit heat, so if I need, say, to hold a cookie sheet in one hand while switching the other sheet to a different rack, it'll get uncomfortably warm

I prefer either cotton mitts or the "ove" glove. It's cheesy but it works.

Lol - maybe you look like you accidentally burn yourself a lot? I wish people would give me pot holders because I burn myself all the time. I use a cloth/silicone mit.

If that were the case, I'd have a LOT more oven mitts. Or someone would buy me a steamer. I have burned my ARMS on an iron.

I have these old square terrycloth pot holders that are my favorites.

As far as silicone, the only one I have is this little silicone thing that just covers your fingers, and it has these big grippy bumps on it that make it practically impossible to grip anything with it. I don't love that one at all.

I have the cotton ones with the thumb.
It's the only kind I like.
I have about 800 of them. My sister's work did them as a promotion, the colors match my kitchen and she had a billion leftovers she let me have.
I got a silicone one has a wedding gift. It sucks. To say the least.

This is entirely possible ... I could probably find a way to burn myself on cold water.

I have a few that are ok, but I usually end up just using a dish towel. I always have one over my shoulder when I'm cooking so it's right there and it's what I grab.

FYI - be careful doing this. A few years back, I set a dish towel on fire while taking a pan of brownies out of the (electric) oven when the towel came into contact with the element.

FYI - be careful doing this. A few years back, I set a dish towel on fire while taking a pan of brownies out of the (electric) oven when the towel came into contact with the element.

Ummm, I think you just solved the 'why people give me lots of oven mitts' mystery. =)
