I didn't realize my camera bag wasn't zipped and my 35mm 1.8 fell out and hit the garage floor. :-(
The glass on the lens is all shattered. It's not a terribly expensive lens, but it was $200.
Is it worth getting repaired or would you just replace it? I called a local camera store and they told me it's $25 for an estimate, then it takes 2 weeks to find out the amount, then the $25 goes towards the repair.
I would replace, it is possible that additional glasses were damaged / scratch, dust can get into the lens, and the aperture might not work as well as it used to. For a cheap lens I don't think it is worth it.
Well, for future reference if anyone else sees this, I called a different camera store that was more helpful.
It's $25 for Nikon to look at it, and they typically return that lens with "cost of repair exceeds value of lens." So, I guess I'll have to replace it.
