So I had a bpp at the hospital. The u/s person asked me when my last u/s was and I said around 32 or 33 weeks I thought. She was so surprised. The first time I didn't think anything about it and thought that with her job she's probably just used to people getting more or something. But she seriously asked or commented on the fact that I hadn't had an u/s since then probably 6 times. It wasn't like a spacey person forgetting she asked me already, but like a shocked "and you HAVEN'T had an ultrasound since 33 weeks?!?!". One time I said yeah, they know she's big and I'm a rcs so I guess she didn't see a need and she kind of said yeah I guess so with this skeptical tone. I was kind of weirded out and knew she wouldn't tell me if something was weird anyway. Like I asked her if measurements were part of what she did or if she knew if she was still measuring big and she quickly replied "oh that's not part of what I was told to look for so I can't comment on that. " I don't know, I guess I just got a weird feeling like there was some reason she saw that I should have had more u/s before now. I see my Ob thurs so I'll obviously ask her, but does that seem weird at all? I mean, I know they wouldn't have let me leave if something was really wrong, but now I'm panicking that she saw something weird.
Eta: I used the word weird a lot. It's 4:30 and I'm too lazy to find them all again so it can stay weird.
Her reaction would have certainly freaked me out! Fwiw, I had only 2 u/s between 20 weeks and the start of my induction and one was at 32 weeks and the other one the day I was diagnosed with HELLP at 38 weeks.

I wouldn't like it, but my vote is she is the weird one. At my ob the u/s techs know their stuff, but it is the doctor who truly interprets the results. She sounds like she didn't know what the heck she was talking about.
She should pass along any concerns to your OB. I have had BPP's twice a week since 31 weeks and I think it'd be negligent not to mention something to your OB. I also bet your OB has already had the report faxed to her office so if there is a huge concern she should get it today and hopefully follow up with you ASAP. It is definitely a weird comment to make, especially over and over, but I want to believe if she secretly saw something she'd mention it on the report.
Also, FWIW, if there were any immediate concerns I am pretty sure they have to let a doctor know then before they let you go. A girlfriend of mine just had her baby at 35.3 after a BPP because fluid was too low. She had her son within hours. The u/s tech I saw all the time said they take BPP's very seriously so I wouldn't stress too much if you can help it! Hang in there.
Since you have a lot of fluid and she's measuring big, she probably expected you to have BPPs at least once a week. I had them at least once a week with both kids beginning at 28 weeks. The OB would give me size estimates with Kalvin. The hospital never did with Katelyn. Hell, I didn't even get to see the screen at the hospital. They also barely talked to me. When I failed I was sent to L&D for monitoring.
If the order for the u/s states size estimate, the hospital will give it to you, if it doesn't no size estimate.
Honestly, I preferred not being told a weight every few days with Katelyn. It's not like I could do anything about it and it would've stressed me out like it did with Kalvin. I did get weight checks from MFM every time I went there.
I think it's weird. And, kind of a total mind-fuck. I mean, who does that to a very pregnant lady? In my mind, the only clear reasons for her concern would be triplets, prostate cancer, or some sort of alien parasite.
I'm sure it's nothing and she's just dumb. Talk to your OB on Thursday and let her know. That kind of bedside manner could be detrimental to the pregnants of the world.

If there was an immediate concern a doctor would have been brought in, that has happened twice with me. The redoes part of the sonogram and then dispense his concerns. She probably just thought they were monitoring you closer due to baby size.

Thanks everyone. I knew if something was really wrong they would have found an on call dr. I had more with my other kids but that was just because with ds we were still hoping for a vaginal birth and dd I was klutzier lol. I don't care about the weight, I just asked her out of curiosity. I really think the ob's just like "yeah your babies are huge, we know that by now". The regular office sonographer did the anatomy scan and growth check and I can't imagine she missed anything, but it totally freaked me out! It seems like when you read a bout polyhydramnios people get regular u/s to monitor the fluid, so maybe that was just it. I don't know. Weirdo.

I was surprised when my ob did a standard growth us at 33-4 weeks. I thought that was generous and unusual. But I wasn't going to complain! So when she expected more than that I was shocked! I know the anatomy scan is all a lot of people get.

I had polyhydramnios with Katelyn and had u/s weekly to monitor the levels among other things.
FFS I cannot stand the techs that make random ass comments or facial expressions then give you the " I can't comment on anything" bullshit. It infuriates me. This happened last month at my NT scan and when I got to another tech for the blood work part I was in near tears! She asked what was wrong and I told her I was freaked out and the u/a tech wouldn't give me any information. Then that tech looked up the measurements and have them to me reassuring me all was fine ( and if it wasn't a radiologist/ MFM would have came in)
Anyway that stuff is annoying and they really shouldn't give pregnant women anxiety about all this stuff.
Can you call your OB and explain that you became really anxious during the u/a that something was wrong and could someone please share the results for reassurance?

Are you seeing an MFM?
No. :/ My OB acted like it was no big deal and that she wouldn't do anything differently at that point anyway (33 weeks I think it was). I have fully trusted her about everything else for the past 3 pgs, but really do not understand her opinion or whatever about the poly monitoring. She said they don't do any extra u/s or tests (not even a routine nst). I thought that was weird. Yet my afi was 35, which she said is "definitely significant".
