I took my one hour GD test last week and hadn't heard, so I called the doctor's office and found out I did not pass and have to take the 3 hour. I hear the 3 hour sucks balls. My question is, should I take the day off work when I do it or will I be ok taking a half day and going to work after?
Also, what happens if I fail the 3 hour?
UPDATE: I got a call back from the doc (it was the receptionist who gave me the results initially but she is only allowed to read the next steps and not tell you all the details). So apparently I failed the 1 hour by 1 point! They want you at 139 or lower in my office and I was a 140. The doc said with that reading she is pretty sure all will be fine and I won't have a GD diagnosis, but it is still their recommendation that I have the 3 hour because I was over by 1 point. GRRRRRRRR.
I failed my 1 hr and had to do the 3 hr (which I passed).
I didn't feel as shitty during the 3hr as I did during the 1hr, but I was far more exhausted after the 3hr. After cramming down lunch immediately after the test, I fell asleep for 2-3 hours. I was glad I did the test on the weekend.
If you fail the 3hr you'll be diagnosed with GD and will receive guidelines on what to eat and how often to check your blood sugar.

I'm sorry, that stinks. I failed my 1 hour by a lot and passed all four sections of the 3 hour. I bet you'll be fine.
The 3 hour wasn't too bad. I wrote thank you notes while waiting and posted on these boards . Just make sure you have a way to pass the time. Most ladies said they were ravenous afterwards, so they packed a lunch. Honestly, I was fine. I packed a lunch but treated myself to McDonalds on the way home. I could have worked afterwards but I used it as an excuse to take the day off.
I failed the one hour and went to work after taking the three hour. The three hour wasn't too bad, except for a maybe 10 minute period right after I got to work where I got really hot and thought I was going to pass out- it went away once I ate some food. FX you pass the three hour!

Yankees reminded me - I did feel a little nauseous at one point and took a little Zofran to tide me over and keep things down. I found that drink pretty gross.
I did the 3hr this week. For me it was not a big deal and I was fine to go to work after. In fact I brought work to the lab and spent most of the 3hrs working too (to avoid wasting a sick day! The labs near me don't do the 3hr on the weekend). 3 hours sitting there was long and I was hungry/ thirsty by the end but nothing crazy out of the ordinary. Sorry you're having to deal with it too!!

Yes! There was a 5-7 minute gap between starting to eat lunch and the food actually hitting my stomach where I felt really hot, clammy, and dizzy.
At least it was only one point, so hopefully you'll pass the 3 hour no problem...not fun to do it, but at least it'll be over and done with in just a few hours. (I say that now, but I have my own gross drink appointment next week, so maybe I'll feel differently then about "just a few hours.")
My office wanted it under 130 and I got a 135 - sucks to be us! I read that using a cut off of 140 identifies 80% of GD and a cut off of 130 identifies 90% of GD. Hopefully you'll pass the 3Hr!
I took the day off for my three hour. I could have gone back, but I wouldn't have had much of my day left so I didn't bother. One point likely means you're fine. I failed my one hour with a 165 and I have GD. It runs in my family. GL!
Sorry you have to go through the hassle of the 3-hour, but that's encouraging that your doc thinks you'll pass since you only failed the one hour by one point.
With both of my pregnancies, I failed the one hour and passed the three hour. I took the test in the morning and worked in the afternoon and felt fine. Good luck!
