Not sure if anyone remembers but DS had a croupy cough on Sunday night. Monday he had a fever. Tuesday, he did not have a fever in the morning, but we dosed with motrin. I remember thinking he felt hot when I picked him up but I didn't check and we gave him more motrin at bed. Yesterday, sent home fever of 102. Motrin brings down to 99. This morning woke up with fever of 100.7. So going on four days of a fever.
He also has a cough, no wheezing though. Just keep on keeping on?
It's not that high, but I would probably email my pedi if I were in your shoes. Do you have the ability to reach out to them remotely? If not a call to the nurse would make me feel better. If you're home anyway, it might be about time to have his lungs listened to. The fact that he was croupy a few days ago would have me on alert even if I couldn't hear wheezing. Sometimes it's just too deep to hear without a stethoscope.

I called and they want him to come in. I really hope he is not wheezing his lungs do sound really clear and I don't notice his chest heaving or anything. We have been giving him abuterol since his cough started, which I think is helping.
ETA: What is insurance for if I am not going to use it right? lol.

Last time I called on day 4. She was acting fine other than the cough and fever but it turned out she had bronchitis so it was good we ended up taking her in. Hope he feels better soon!
It depends how old they are, and that isn't a high fever but I still think on day 4-5 at any age it's a good idea to take Them in. Hope they feel better soon!
For us it's 3 days, or as pp said, fever not responding to meds. For DD3, at least, a fever lasting that long means that she probably has an ear infection. Good to hear you called, hope everything is okay.

Just back from the Dr. They said his lungs are doing so much better BUT he is still wheezing just a teeny tiny bit. He doesn't need oral steroids, but she wants him to start taking daily pulmicort. Ugh.
I know this sounds dumb, but I feel like I have failed him. I try so hard to keep healthy and do all I can to avoid this and yet we still wind up in inhaled steroids. Ugh. I am so glad that he will be feeling better, and I am glad it is not worse (we have never been hospitalized or anything). It just freaken sucks.
Depends on your kid. DD tends to run high fevers for everything- the common cold, vaccination shots, somebody looking at her the wrong way at school during the day. So in the past, I haven't called unless there was some really crazy other symptom (like when she had a UTI and kept complaining that it hurt to pee) or when it won't go down much even with Motrin/Tylenol.
DD has never had croup or an ear infection, though, so the idea that the doctor can actually give her antibiotics or something to help is not something at the front of my mind. (Do you give antibiotics for croup?)

You have NOT failed him. There are some nasty bugs going around right now. I'm trying hard to kick pneumonia. I have very deep wheezing that just won't go away, so I'm on daily neb treatments right now.
It's not you. It's just part of being a kid. You're doing a great job with him. You really are.

Thanks guys. I mean I know it is not me. I guess I just feel frustrated. We haven't had one single cold that hasn't resulted in wheezing. I just would like a break.
