I plan to work until my due date. Though my current estimated due date is Labor Day weekend, so I just may not come back...though my work is right next to the hospital that I will be delivering at (vs 15 minutes from my house), so there's that.
My maternity leave is still far away, but for the other 2 I worked up until I delivered. I went into labor at night both times, once on a Tuesday night (and had her on Wednesday night) and then on a Saturday night (and had her early Sunday morning). I work a desk job so there is no point to taking off early unless medically necessary.
I am hoping to work until March 1, about 2 weeks before I am due. I have PTO hours to use before Maternity leave. Also, I do not plan on going back, so I want to get those last couple pay checks
I am a teacher and my due date for now (have first ultrasound this Thursday) is Sept. 3rd. I would give anything to work up to due date but will so whatever my doc says is best. School starts Aug. 25th. I live 35 or so minutes from our hospital & only work 10 mins from it so I would be closer if I was at work!!
I worked until I went into labor at 39w5d, because by my calculations I'd have juuust enough PTO+STD saved up to have the entire 12 weeks paid...but it turned out I did my math wrong and I came back to work with 2 weeks PTO left in my bank. If I'd known that I might have started my leave at 38 or 39 weeks. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess
I can only take 12 weeks off so I hope I don't have to use a single day before the baby arrives.
With my daughter I was induced at 42 weeks, I was SO glad I just keep working because even if I stopped on my due date I'd have used up two whole weeks of my leave!
