i saw this mentioned in a few posts so decided i'd get one started!
i'm getting to the end of first tri (and holy shit i CANNOT BELIEVE i am typing that!) but wanted to get a place for everyone to check-in and ask any questions, etc. maybe those of us farther along (or on the second or more time through) can offer some advice to the newer members.
so, where are you at? how are you feeling (the good and the bad!) and any questions for other first tri ladies??
as my ticker says i'm 12+6. feeling pretty good for the most part. we had our NT scan today and everything looked good according to the doc. we will get official results when the bloodwork is complete but she said she wasn't worried. it was crazy to see the changes from our first ultrasound just 5 weeks ago. you could see actual limbs and bones and the brain and everything, not just a little blob anymore! the tech said we had a stubborn baby though since it took her a lot of attempts to get the measurements she needed. DH joked that it wasn't stubborn it was just like it's mother and thought it was too early to be awake (we had the first appt of the day). LOL.
as for the good and the bad - most of the time i was super lucky and not queasy or getting morning sickness. weeks 10 and 11 were rough though but i seem to be getting better now. i've had a tough time with brushing my teeth too. it lead to gagging which lead to puking. i had to switch to a non-mint toothpaste and also from my fancy electric toothbrush back to a basic one. i'm just getting over a cold that totally kicked my ass earlier this week. the exhaustion is still in full swing though.
i don't have any questions right now, but might come back with some later!
I'm 7 weeks. I complained enough about my SCH and bleeding problems enough already, so I'll focus on the other things here. My main symptom is exhaustion. I'm a little queasy, but it mostly relates to texture. I could be happily eating something one second, and in the next second the texture of the food is gag inducing. I also wake up with a new pimple every day. I'm on pelvic rest which is no fun at all.
The good is that I've gotten to see my baby's heartbeat twice, and nothing else matters. Bonus baby blue moon pic :
12 w, 1 day. Had my NT scan earlier this week and got my bloodwork back from another test that confirmed no chromosomal abnormalities. Everything looks good. So we went ahead and told DD tonight that she's going to be a big sister. It's now 9:10pm and she says she can't sleep because she is too excited.
I'm feeling okay, except that flossing makes me gag. (Yet my dentist says the only way to deal with the extra-bleeding gums caused by pregnancy is to floss more.) So far, not a single puking incident, which is miraculous considering that I puked my way through the entire first tri with DD.
Checking in at 11w, 5d! Also closing in on 2nd tri. I still haven't been sick. ::knock on wood:: (don't hit me LOL)
This week has involved telling people at work who need to know, which has caused me great anxiety (and hence, insomnia ). I'm meeting with my chair again tomorrow to formulate a game plan for speaking with the dean. This is his second year as dean, so this is his first time negotiating maternity leave. I hope that he doesn't try to play hardball. :-#
Waiting on my Panorama results, and NT scan is next week!
Doing well, feeling mostly better, still tired, but I could easily blame that on my 2 year old!
Had the NT scan yesterday, and the tech said everything appeared to be normal, so yay! Very fun to see the changes from my week 7 ultrasound to this one. Quite amazing how much they change.
Second tri next weekish! Nuts! This is moving so fast!
I am at 13 weeks, 1 day, which I guess is first tri, depending on how you slice it. I'm feeling OK, a few times of feeling nauseated each day but nothing too terrible. I had my NT scan this week, which was nerve wracking but awesome to see the baby waving its arms and moving all over the place. I am still waiting on the related blood test results, but everything else was fine.
I am trying to decide when to tell work. I am not sure what I will want to do after the baby is born, so that is part of what is holding me up.
I am now 4w6d. I phoned my doctor this morning to let her know that I am still pregnant. She is not in today so will do the referral on Monday for an early scan (which will only probably be the following week). I am a ball of nerves at the moment. My last pregnancy I got to almost 14 weeks when they found the baby had stopped growing at 8.5 weeks, but I was still throwing up a lot and my stomach was growing (second pregnancy so was in maternity clothes already) so these things don't mean much to me right now, but this pregnancy feels different than the last one. I can't explain it. This feels more like when I was pregnant with DS. This time I feel sick until about lunch time and then my energy come back and my mood settles. With DS I was always sick in the evenings and lacked energy then too, but was generally ok in the day time. This last pregnancy I was sick 24/7 from 4 weeks. I was waking up to throw up. I am hoping this is a good sign. (Oh, and for all 3 pregnancies I have felt sore boobs and nausea from before I get a positive pregnancy test. I think I have a sensitive stomach)
I do have a question for you all. My mood swings are out of control the last few days. I can go from crying to laughing in less than a second. This is very unlike me. I have no idea how to deal with them? Anyone else have this? How are you dealing with it?

I am 8 wk 6 days. Had my first appointment earlier this week and it was so great to see the little one for the first time. I'm exhausted and nauseous, but haven't thrown up much. The last couple of days it's been getting a lot worse. Brushing my teeth is awful, gagging which leads to puking. Also tons of heartburn. Looking forward to my next appointment in a couple of weeks.

I am 3 wks 5 days. LOL. I should not have tested so early! The only thing I am really feeling is twinges and very minor cramps of and on. Not much though. Which makes me nervous. I also had my usually PMS I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR moment this morning which also makes me nervous. EVERYTHING makes me nervous. Ha!

I am ~8 weeks, and counting down to the 27, when I have my first appointment. (Which should be at ~10 weeks) barring any issues between now and then.
**knocks on wood** I have been feeling pretty good, other than super sore boobs, and tired all the time. I have had a couple waves of nausea in the afternoon on the way home from work, but that has mostly subsided by eating an orange or something else right before I leave.
It still doesn't feel real, to be completely honest. I have had a ton of problems with ovarian cysts (the main reason I was on birth control) and thought it would take a lot longer than two cycles off the pill. I am hoping that after the appointment, it will feel more real.
rbp - Good luck! I hope it goes well! blushing - I don't really have an answer, other than trying to roll with the punches. I have noticed that I have a lot less patience for stupid things than I normally do. I also find myself getting teary eyed over little things, which is completely out of character for me. I am taking the approach of taking everything one step at a time.(And trying to remember that there is a ton of crazy stuff going on inside my body, that I have zero control over. )
8w2d Tired all of the time, and extremely nauseous today. We have plans later so really hoping I get to feeling better. Things are fine - first appointment next Tuesday. Really looking forward to that.
11.5 weeks here. The nausea is starting to fade and I'm not having to wake up middle of the night to pee any more. Excited for my 12-wk appointment next week and hearing the heartbeat! Also looking forward to getting MT21 results, hopefully confirming a healthy baby, and finding out what we're having . On the "downside"- my bra band size has already gone up to the next one and I suspect my cup size has joined it. I'm still wearing my current bras on the loosest clasps, but by the end of the day it is so tight and uncomfortable. And the "blump". . I have a tiny little actual bump. But because of how long-torsoed I am there is a huge gap between there and my stomach. If I were normal-torsoed I'd look 6 or 7 months, the bloat is so bad. Instead I just look like I'm wearing an inner tube around my belly button, or like I have the worlds biggest muffin-top. When does this go away? I'm trying prunes, pears, and water...
12w1d here! I can't believe the first tri ends next week, that's crazy! I have my next OB appointment next Thursday, where I will hopefully get to hear the heartbeat. We got to see it at our last appointment on 12/26. I am wearing some maternity clothes, mostly the jeans. I tried the belly band last night with a pair of my pre-preg jeans and I just didn't care for it. I need to get some new bras pretty soon too. I bet I've gained at least 2 cup sizes, and considering I started out at DD, finding bras is not going to be easy. The last couple of days my nausea has not been quite as bad. I'm hoping that's a permanent thing and not just a couple of good days. I typically start to feel it around 2 pm and it lasts until I go to bed. I'm definitely not as exhausted as I was a few weeks ago, although I still can't stay up super late.

8 weeks 6 days. I've barfed more days that not this first tri. I feel nauseous usually off and on throughout the day, but I only throw up in the mornings. So I guess that's good? lol
We have our NT scan first week of February as well as a trisomy test (Verifi). We're going to find out the sex during the Verifi testing. Originally I didn't want to, but MH is SO excited to know the sex, I'll let him have this one. Pick your battles and all that.

9w1d here. I was super crabby last night with DH, and he was not having it. I just want a little sympathy! LOL Feeling gross and barfy most of the time, except when I'm falling asleep at my desk.
Good luck to everyone with appointments and/or results coming up soon!

4w4d for me. We told my parents yesterday (I couldn't wait, no one else will know til later).
It was good because I could ask mum how she was when she was pregnant with us. Not that I'll be the same. I've started to get tired. No nausea. My boobs are more sensitive each day. That's about it.
We have our appointment with our family doc in 2 days. Can't wait!!
I'm just getting my feet wet over here at GotP. I've suffered 2 losses prior to this pregnancy and I'm scared to have to say goodbye to you girls again.
I have symptoms now that I never had with my losses so I'm taking that and a strong heartbeat of 156 seen on Wednesday as a good sign!
Questions for anyone that is still reading this thread... Have you had your flu shot? Did you wait till you were X weeks. My Dr said to get it whenever but I'm nervous and want to hear when others got one.
8w1d here and am miserable with morning sickness. It comes in waves, so I am either violently nauseated or ravenously hungry. I look forward to going to bed each night knowing that in my sleep I feel nothing. I'm already in maternity trousers, since my MIL graciously bought me some in the US when we were there in August with my first unsuccessful pregnancy. I'm quite petite with a short torso and am starting to get a bit of a blump so they're much more comfortable.
radical I already had my flu shot back in November, but if I hadn't I'd be getting it as soon as possible. I'd take my chances with the shot over potentially getting the actual flu any day.

Yes, I had my flu shot while TTC.
If you actually get the flu, which often come with high fevers, that could be detrimental to baby. I'd get it ASAP, especially since your doc ok'd it.
I guess since I'm starting to reply here and there, I might as well participate in the roll call.
I'm 4w today. So early. I'm staying cautious, but everyday I let myself feel more hopeful. No symptoms yet. With DD morning sickness started around 6-7 weeks.
DH is the only one who knows so far. Debating on telling my mom soon, or waiting to see her next month when she visits. On the one hand, I'd love to see a heart beat before spreading the word, but on the other hand, she's my mom.
7w tomorrow. MS has been a bitch this time but its better on days where I'm not smelling cooked veggies or quinoa. Pretzels and white bread are my BFFs right now.
Hi! I am 7-8 weeks. We have our first ultrasound next Thursday & I can't wait!!!! Just praying we hear the heartbeat and see a sweet little baby in there. H & I went last week for blood work and to talk about do's/don't's.
I haven't had a flu shot but want to get one soon...
7w3d here. I haven't been to the doctor yet so I haven't really jumped in here yet. But hopefully we will see a heartbeat Wednesday! I have had a crazy appetite and general icky feeling but no real nausea. So I hope that just means I'm lucky!

i got mine in early november. turns out i was pregnant at the time but just didn't know it yet. as a PP said high fevers are a serious concern in pregnant women so it's highly recommended to get the vaccine. it was one of the first questions my doc asked at our first appt.
Thanks everyone!! I plan on going tomorrow. With my first pg, I got one right before I found out so in my head I can't help but wonder if that had an effect on my m/c. I realistically know it didn't but just wanted to hear what others had to say

I'm early 4 weeks about. Doctor appointment is in two weeks and I feel great. Not sick yet, but very hungry and thirsty. I'm also craving onions like crazy even though, I really don't like them. Lol go figure!
I had my first ultrasound and it puts me at 7 weeks and 2 days (need to update ticker). Haven't had too bad of symptoms, but I've been battling a bad cold since last week.
