Hi all. Can I put my first-time-mom anxiety here? DS was a little crabby and had a slight fever (100.8) yesterday afternoon. I also noticed that he had three little pimples on one of his hands. I gave him some Tylenol, which brought down the fever and improved his mood. He slept like crap last night, but no fever today and his demeanor seems normal. However, those three pimples are still there and he has faint red spots on his knees and the bottoms of his feet.
This is the first time that he's (potentially) been sick so I'm automatically jumping to the worst conclusion. I'm going to call the pedi once their lunch break is over, but I can't help but worry that it's chicken pox. As far as I know, he hasn't been exposed to it (I SAH), but we did take him to the gym daycare on Sunday and on Tuesday. But then I also fed him apples for the first time on Wednesday and Thursday, so maybe it's a food sensitivity? Eff eff eff. DH is gone all weekend, so I hope it's nothing serious.

Also, I am going to be SO ANNOYED if he picked up something during the 60 minutes total he spent at the gym daycare. He was carried around by one of the employees the entire time!

Looking at the symptoms, I'm wondering whether I had this in junior high. I remember getting some sort of virus that covered the inside of my mouth in sores. I had to use a special mouthwash just to be able to eat.

Okay, I called the pedi and they thought it might be hand foot and mouth, too. They said to take a wait-and-see approach since he doesn't have a fever and is eating normally. Thanks for letting me air my anxieties and for keeping me sane!
I will say that every one of my friends kids who have had HFM have gotten it from the daycare at the gym... totally weird! I wonder if they have more issues because they have large amount of kids but only a couple at a time?

That's weird! I wonder if it's because it's tough to keep toys and surfaces sanitized because so many kids cycle through on any given day.
