DH's mom and step dad are having a lot of difficulty with keeping up with bills, house payments, house maintenance and even cleaning.
It's long story that I do not even know the half of. But today DH's brother and him were talking about how something like a financial intervention might help them. Does anyone have any idea of where to start with something like this?
I have a feeling if how they are living continues it has the potential to get very bad. It is already bad. I also think that there might be some depression or anxiety issues going on as well.
I don't have any experience but I think addressing the anxiety and depression first would be the most important. They have to be open to the idea. Also, if they're overshopping because they're depressed that's not going to stop because of an intervention.
I found this recent article that covers everything else I was going to say (and a lot more). It looks like a great resource.
