I'm 18w3d and tested positive for the flu Saturday. I've felt a few "maybe that was the baby" movements the past few weeks, but nothing definite or terribly consistent. Our anatomy scan is 1/31 and my parents are coming into town to see the u/s part of that appt.
I never had a super high fever or got dehydrated while sick and am actually feeling fairly ok today (am not working today, which I'm sure helps). Would it be weird to call my ob and see if they would want to check on the baby before my 1/31 appt? Just a doppler check? My greatest fear so far has been showing up for an ob appt and getting bad news. I was finally starting to feel comfortable and then got the flu. :/ I want to be cautious but not paranoid. Wdyt?
Called my fave nurse at our practice - she said since I didn't have a high and sustained fever and was able to eat/drink normally (ie not dehydrated) everything should be fine.
She said the worst the coughing would do is bounce the baby around. Since I'm 18w, she said the organs are fully formed and the flu virus itself isn't the concern per se, but rather the other complications that set in. She's a huge fan of the tamiflu (it's class c, which made me nervous) and said to keep taking it. She saw no need for me to come in since my case was fairly mild.
