and had sushi - and I enjoyed every single bite of it, and I plan on having it again before I'm due. There is a great sushi restaurant on the first floor of the building where I work and H and I enjoyed eating there once or twice a month before I got pregnant, but I haven't been in since I found out I was pregnant in late September. I decided to go for it and have some sushi so H came to have lunch with me today since he's off and I have to work. It was freaking delicious. Everything there is so fresh and made right in front of you. I know this is a no-no while pregnant, but I've been having a crazy craving for it for weeks so I decided to be naughty today.

I've eaten a lot of sushi while pregnant. I justify it by going to the much nicer fancier place instead of the all you can eat sushi bar we usually go to. I won't lie, the fancier place is nice, but the all you can eat place has a ton more options, all delicious. They also have much lower health department inspection scores.
Yum! Glad you enjoyed it. I've had sushi several times. I don't stress about it at all as long as I stick to reputable places and cuts of fish that are likely to be fresh/turn over quickly (salmon, yellowtail).
My understanding has been that a major concerns with eating sushi while pregnant would be parasites. However, sushi fish must be flash frozen before being served raw, so I don't know if that's an outdated concern or what.
I'm no more concerned about sushi from my regular restaurants than I would be with anything else served raw like salad or fresh cut fruit. Food safety handling is still an issue, but if the restaurant is clean and particularly if you have experience with them I'm not worried about it.
All I wanted early in the first tri was sushi and miso soup. I didn't give in every time, but we did get it several times.
I do avoid eating a whole lot of tuna d/t mercury though.
