I feel like I should probably get some things to have when I get home for the hospital, but don't really know what to get. If you had your baby what do you recommend and if you haven't what are you planning on getting?
The hospital gave me most of what I needed. I just bought regular size pads for when I ran out of the ones from the hospital. That's probably not much help though!

Did they give you dermoplast?
Yes they did!
ETA - stuff they gave me to take home (that I remember): mesh panties, huge pad/diaper things for the mesh panties, long pads, dermoplast, tucks, peri bottle, sitz bath, ice packs
Advil High rise underwear without a thick elastic band on top (they don't have to be grannie panties, but boy shorts, etc.) Comfy clothing to wear around the house and leggings Nursing tops and bras Bamboobies (reusable nursing pads - they rock!) A heating pad (if you have a c-section it helps with healing, but also cramps)
The hospital sent me home with: dermoplast, tucks pads, peri bottle, giant cold pads, giant regular pads, the infamous mesh underwear, nursing pads, samples of Medela lanolin, gel nipple pad samples, and prescriptions for Motrin and a stool softener that we filled on our way home from the hospital.
All I ended up needing to buy was regular pads (I ended up going with Always Infinity, and started using them at about day 4 or 5 pp).
I hate lanolin, I went with coconut oil and using hydrogel pads. I have needed a few packs of pads. I used the huge hospital ones, then a pack of always maxi, and am now down to ultra thin. I had colace at home, and haven't used the whole dermoplast can from the hospital. I needed a few nursing bras without underwire and nursing tanks, I ordered the two pack from hm.com. And I stocked the house with drinks and snacks, which I have been the most happy about.

Red dermoplast!! My hospital gave me the blue and it sucked compared to the read. First time around, I used the peri bottles (one for each bathroom), lots of dermoplast and pads (AF and breast). 2nd time, just the peri bottles and both types of pads. I ended up returning all the new dermoplast and tucks pads that I bought.
The hospital gave me everything I would ever need including stool softener and prescription preparation-h. I ended up just having to buy more dermaplast and tucks pads when they ran out. Also I bought some Always Infinity since they were highly recommended but didn't end up using much of those since I didn't bleed for very long.
Get some arnica. It helps you to heal faster. I took the tablet version of arnica after having DS and it helped with the bruising. Also coarse salt. If you tear, then pour some coarse salt in a warm bath and sit in the area where the salt was poured. It was a huge relief. Best advice my mom ever gave me.

Prenatals-make sure you're stocked, you'll keep taking them if you're nursing.
One handed food. Like kristie, I have snacks and drinks stashed away. Luna protein bars and apples with peanut butter have been my favorite snacks. Also peanut butter m&ms . Drinks- Gatorade g2 and some fruity sparking water for when I'm tired of regular water.
Really random - my feet got very rough and cracked after delivering both kids. I've needed a lot of callus remover lotion to even stay slightly ahead of it. I bought some fancy keratin cream last time too but it didn't really help.

Man, I'm jealous of all the stuff you ladies got from your hospitals. My hospital gave me some mesh panties (bc i asked) and a few giant pads/ice pack things & a few regular giant pads.
I started out using lanolin, but the LC recommended using coconut oil instead; so I've been using that. I honestly don't know if either one works since Paisley is a nipple wrecker. They are just constantly wrecked..
I got the dermoplast in the red can.. apparently that is the wrong one. mekiakoo recommended the one in the blue can. I didn't get that one bc at this point i'm pretty much healed up, but if i had known about that weeks ago, i definitely would have given it a shot.
i took motrin around the clock for about 2.5 weeks.
I've eaten my weight in the nature valley protein bars. Those things are super handy to have on hand - kind of high in sugar, but whatever.
I loved the peri bottle.. We installed one of those hand held shower things.. Man, that thing is awesome for rinsing your girly parts. The peri bottle has nothing on the hand held shower. I'm paranoid my sutures are going to get infected or something so I like to have that extra rinse in the shower. but, i'm a weirdo.

I'm 10 days postpartum at this point. This is the list of things i have been using.
Lanolin cream for nipples Breast heat/ ice packs Breast pads, i find when i leak it stains my shirt. Tucks pads Peri bottle Large pads, and some normal pads Sits bath Motrin
And again, since extra virgin coconut oil has antimicrobial properties there is definitely a good reason to consider it over lanolin. There are thoughts among some if my old coworkers that lanolin could contribute to more problems than it fixed. In terms of thrush, mastitis or cracked nipples antimicrobial properties could obviously be very beneficial.
Paper plates (no one wants to be doing dishes) Juice boxes Granola bars Advil Colace Long/overnight pads Bamboobies (nursing pads- I leak a lot and those are super soft on tender nips) Peri bottle (from the hospital) Nursing bra or tanks (I had to send DH out to get these, lol)
I had coconut oil and lanolin for the nips, but I found that just leaving them out to air dry helped them heal the best
