I got my BFP yesterday. I've made an appointment with my midwife, but it's not until mid-February for the 8-week ultrasound.
That's almost four weeks away. Is there anything I should be doing between now and then? Should I see my regular PCP for a blood test? My friend and sister both had to go in regularly for bloodwork, but I think that was because of a previous m/c. I haven't been pg before, but I'm in my late 30s, so I'm a bit nervous about having no oversight.

Congrats! Sitting tight is the rule of the game at this point. It feels like you should be doing more but that is generally how it works!
I emailed my doctor to get a blood test because of dealing with infertility for 4 years. I wanted to get hcg levels and my PCP ordered it for me since she knew we had struggled to get pregnant.
8 weeks for first appointment is pretty standard. Did you mention your age when you called? If so, I'd just keep with their recommendations.
Really, all you have to do between now and then is stop drinking alcohol, start drinking more water, and eat as healthfully as you can manage.
Ditto this. Just keep an eye out for any unusual spotting or cramping; spotting was the only reason I saw my OB before my first scheduled appointment at 9 weeks. Not to freak you out, but unless that's going on, there really is no reason to have to see the doctor before then in a normal, healthy pregnancy, assuming you are healthy as well.

Thanks, ladies, this makes me feel better!
I didn't mention my age, but she has me on file and I know was reviewing my record, so she had it right in front of her.
Thankfully, I had already starting eating much healthier and exercising more.
Another Q: I am already burping all the time; have been since Sunday, which is awful. It seems early for this, isn't it? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Trust me, gas will be coming out of you in ways you never imagined. Get used to it. LOL
Congratulations! And yes, this is why the first trimester seems to last foreeevvvverrrr. There is so much happening inside but you can't really tell. The time between doctor's appointments feels interminable. We can all commiserate - that is one reason why this board is great! Second trimester is a lot more fun, IMO. You'll be there soon!
I have been gassy (out both ends) my entire pregnancy. It's impressive sometimes, seriously.
8 weeks is pretty standard and you should be able to see a solid heartbeat by that time, so it's a great time for a first appointment/US! I hope the next 4 weeks pass quickly!

Congrats and welcome! Like everyone else said, just try and take it one day at a time and do what you can to survive first tri. If that means sleeping as much as you can, eating things you don't normally eat, asking your H, family and friends for help because you feel like crap, do whatever it takes to get through the first tri (and may you be blessed with a pukeless first tri!)
And remember to come here and post often - I was an anxious mess the first tri, and posting here about my fears and posting my questions helped so, so much, I am so thankful for the ladies on this board.
Congrats!!! Just take your vitamins if you can stomach them and otherwise eat as healthy as possible for as long as possible! Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones who doesn't get sick.
i basically agree with everyone else - 8 to 10 weeks is the standard first appt at my practice. they did have an info packet on their website for me to download so i did that and started following all the guidelines (normal list of foods to avoid, approved meds, all that jazz). other than that it's just waiting it out.
congrats and best wishes that the time moves fast for you!
