Hey everyone! Today is my due date but we've been lucky enough to have our little guy around for 10 days now. My water broke on Sunday the 12th at 3am. Water breaking is gross lol!!!! We went to the hospital and after a bit of monitoring they said we could either go for an induction or go home until 3pm to see how things were progressing on their own since I was only at 2 cm. I decided to go home and hopefully get some more sleep and last cuddles with H. I had to do some kick counts and take my temp in case of fever, but by 11am my contractions had completely stopped and I was feeling really stressed so I was ready for an induction by the time we went back to the hospital. I was admitted and started IV fluids and pitocin and set up to monitoring. They were having some concerns about the baby's heart rate being too high so they upped the pitocin really slowly. Around 9 pm I got to a point where I couldn't handle the pain of contractions anymore and I was still only at 3cm so they started an epi. The epi was awesome, and I was able to get some sleep on and off for the next few hours. They still had some concerns about the baby's heart rate but I was oddly calm about it, I just kept thinking that they could do a C section if they needed him out right away and we were so close to finally having him. Around 4am they were getting more concerned so they were able to put a monitor directly into his head, and by then the contraction pain had gotten fairly strong again so I was awake, but I had progress to 8cm. A few hours later it was time to push! After 50 minutes of pushing our baby boy was born. He had some meconium in his fluid so they rushed him off to be suction but he was all good. They gave him to H right away to show me because they were having some issues getting my placenta out but I was so happy to see him. I was incredibly lucky to have a healthy baby and no tearing for me!
(Side note: I just read in one of my pregnancy books that only 10 percent of women have their water break, so lucky you!)
Ya I had a big meeting the friday before and the joke was that my water would break in the meeting and we all laughed because it's so rare. But apparently I wasn't too far off from it really happening!

Congrats! He is precious!
I'm kind of shocked the hospital sent you home after your water broke. There is no way I would have went home. When mine broke it didn't gush.. It trickled out for the next million hours. ick. No way I would want that happening at home.

Stingyshark - I gushed and also continued to trickle and have many more gushes. It was like a horror movie. At the hospital they gave me a bunch of those mesh panties and pads to take home. As long as I was laying down not much was happening though. purrbox - I didn't do anything, I was just incredibly lucky!
