I see lots of posts on here about ladies failing their 1 hour test. I know it's pretty common to pass the 3 hour after, but I had GD and have had my baby now so I wanted to share my experience. It was tough for me to be diagnosed, but it worked out fine. I followed a special diet throughout the pregnancy and tested my blood sugars 4 times a day. Once I was adjusted to the diet/testing it usually a big deal. I followed my regular prenatal care schedule and showed my Dr. my sugars at every appointment and talked to a nutritionist a few times a week for the first few months until she was satisfied the my numbers were well controlled. I had extra ultrasounds at 34 and 38 weeks to monitor his size and development. The plan would have been to consider an induction at 40 weeks if I went that far. As far as labour went the GD did not affect anything. After he was born he had to have his blood sugar tested a few times to make sure that he wasn't hypoglycemic. He did need a bottle of formula after birth due to low blood sugar, but they though that might have been related to the fact I hadn't eaten in almost a day, rather than the GD. His blood sugar levels afterwards were always good. Hope this was helpful to someone, and feel free to tag me if anyone has any questions about GD

Thank you for posting this. I did my 3-hour test yesterday and will get the results on Monday at my appointment. I fall into several risk factors - family history, overweight when I got pg, age - so I know that if I have it it's better to know and follow the diet to ensure a healthy baby. But I admit I am nervous to know my diagnosis. I failed the 1-hour by 1 point!

Good luck hope you passed! One plus for me about the diet was that I gained some great eating habits and I am down 20lbs from pre pregnancy weight already so I hope I can continue with positive lifestyle changes now
Thank you for sharing. My Dr. office made me take the 1 hour yesterday at 13 weeks because of one risk factor (high BMI) and I've been worried since then. I'm glad to hear how manageable it is if I do have GD. And congratulations on your baby!
