Good day all. DH just wainscoted our 1/2 bath/laundry area. We have a old farmhouse, whole place is about 1100 sf. The living room and dining room open to each other. The DH wants to do 5.5 ft high wainscoting around both rooms with small ledge for photo frames. I was really digging photo rails but would not turn my nose to wainscoting. The question? Is it possible for a home to have too much wainscoting?
I'm 90% done putting it in our mudroom and I'm going to eventually have it in our dining room (waiting for new floors). I'm using different styles, though. The mudroom has one side with the 3 foot bead board and one side with 5.5 foot bead board. The dining room will have recessed panels.
If you're planning to sell any time soon I might give it some extra though since having it in a lot of places might turn some people off. Otherwise, if you like the look I would just go for it.
