I declined them at my last pregnancy because I hadn't heard enough research on the concept and they weren't regulated at that time (not sure whether that's changed). FWIW, my baby came at 41 weeks so I definitely didn't need them. They were suggested because iof a previous premie.

How old (gestational age) was your previous preemie. Did you go into preterm labor with that preemie before the labor that resulted in the birth of that preemie?

Yes, labor was stopped at 30 weeks and again at 35.5 weeks. Delivered at 36 weeks (another large reason why I declined). I felt that I was so close to 37 weeks that I would be ok. My delivery was not due to an incompetent cervix which would have made me consider otherwise.

Hmm I went into labor at 34w2d and it was stopped. I delivered at 36w5d. Did you baby spend time in the nicu?

No, luckily no nicu time. She was actually larger in size than my 41 week old!
Also,my insurance doesn't consider my weekly visits for the shots as part of my prenatal care so I have to pay a copay for each doctor visit as well.
Just something you might want to ask about as well.
My DH can give me the shot. They are supposed to come to my house as part of my home delivery benefit. But I have a ? for you. If you are getting them at the doc office then dont you just pay an office visit? Why do you have to pay for the shot AND the visit?
Since my doctor put in the order, my weekly visits to the nurse for the shot are apparently considered part of standard care. I started last week and have had $0 copay.
So far I haven't had any side effects other than a little achyness I the area for about a day, probably aggravated by the fact I have a.desk job. The nurse alternates locations each week, and has me take the weight off of the side she's injecting.

Thanks for updating. I just got my 3rd shot last night. DH has been giving them to me. I got them at a compounding RX for $50 a vile. Much less OOP than if I went through the insurance. So far no side effects except for the achyness you mentioned. I have been switching sides too!
