So as I think I mentioned when I was pregnant with Taylina I had gall bladder attacks. Well now that I finally finished nursing her I decided I better do a gall bladder cleanse and we've been talking about having another kido.
Yesterday I fasted all day which wasn't bad.. drinking water all day was all right, the nasty stuff started around 6:00 - I thought I knew what nasty was.. try drinking 3 TBSP of Epsom Salts in 4 oz of water and 4 oz of lemon juice.. SHIVER! Then 2 hours later liquid magnesium and 4 oz of lemon juice - that wasn't bad at all.. Then 2 hours later 4 oz of olive oil and lemon juice.. and then bed. Needless to say I didn't get a very good night's sleep..
My point, don't do a cleanse like this unless you have to. If I hadn't had such horrible attacks while pregnant I think I would have quit after last night.. but this morning we get to start over and do it again and then more olive oil tonight.. YUCK..
The bonus is that I've been passing stones which was the whole point.. the down side I want today to be over already!
- So I finished today.. and the 2nd time of taking the olive oil before bed wasn't as bad. I also passed a TON of stones.. I mean a lot probably close to 200 and some where largish.. pea - small marble size. No wonder I had attacks while pregnant. Funny thing is not a single once since I had Taylina. Either way hopefully that takes care of it!
Yuck! I hope it helps and that you're able to get pregnant again when you'd like to. And that you don't have to do it again after today.
Thanks!
This is so true.. I read somewhere that sometimes you have to do the cleanse a few times. That doesn't seem like fun at all. Hopefully I'm fine after doing it once!
did you not get your gallbladder removed? i thought you did.....if not..is that an option? a friend of mine's wife got it removed while she was 35-ish weeks pregnant bc of the same thing as you.
That sounds awful! I had mine removed about 6 years ago. I suffered gall bladder attacks for years. Was continuously told I had acid reflux. Soon it was an emergency removal and was told by the doctor they had never seen so many at the size I had. I'd just recommend not waiting til it's an emergency situation like mine if possible. Hope your cleanse corrects the problem!

No I never did jennlin It is an option but not one that I want to consider.. surgery isn't something I want to have if I can try something else. They told me at the time I'd have to have surgery after I had T, they wouldn't do surgery in the 3rd tri-mester and usually don't unless it's an absolute must. Once I had her and the fact that the attacks were gone from 36 weeks pregnancy and I haven't had one since it's not something I want to consider.. one surgery at this point was enough.
I also learned to control it with diet etc. so if it came to that I'd be switching everything again.. we'll see.

Ugh that's not fun! Most of mine were small which is why I'm trying the cleanse first, I have a felling if they were bigger I'd still have attacks.. see my reply to jennlin
Where did you hear about the cleanse? Just curious, it sounds awful. Sounds like it's working though, I didn't realize you could pass gallstones, I don't know why but I thought they were there permanently once they formed.

I see a Chiropractor who also has his natural foods license. He recommended trying it.. I'd already heard from a few people who had gall bladder attacks as well that they had done it.
What happens is the epsom salts open the bile duct allowing the stones to pass the magnesium helps soften them. and the olive oil makes them slippery so they pass out with out causing pain. I'm sure there is more to it but that the is simple part of it.

Interesting! I'm glad it's working for you, hopefully it means you won't have any issues during your next pregnancy.
