Hi all - I posted this on TN and also on the Crafts board here, but I just found you guys on this forum. I was not a regular D&R poster on TN, but I am hoping someone can help me, especially those of you who just finished yours!
We're installing beadboard wainscoting in our guest bath. We have hung all of the paneling but we are stuck at what should be the next step. We still need to put the baseboad molding back on, as well as the top chair rail piece, and the pieces for the inside and outside corners (I guess this is called corner trim).
We're stuck because we cannot figure out how to make the corner trim fit flush with the chair rail piece and baseboard molding. We need these corner trim pieces on the inside and outside corners of the room to cover the raw cut edges of the beadboard in the corners of the wall. We know that the baseboard needs to align at a 45 degree angle, but we just can't figure out how the corner trim pieces fit.
Not sure how helpful this will be, but I just finished putting bead board up in our mud room. I only used the corner piece on the outside corners. The inside corners I just caulked and then painted over and it looks fine.
I only have one outside corner and it's not really flush. I still have to caulk the edges and paint it:
No problem! Through the whole process I've realized that caulk makes everything prettier. Not sure how caulk savvy you are, but make sure the tube says "paintable". I'm using the stuff from home depot labeled "painter's caulk". It's much easier to clean up than the other types and it's probably one of the cheaper ones.
