My arm/hand is driving me CRAZY!!! It's super itchy and has tons of super teeny tiny bumps and some that are a little bigger, almost small hives maybe. It's a little red, but not like streaky and hot. It starts right where the IV was in my forearm and goes down to my hand. I already take zyrtec and can't take Bendaryl. Any other ideas before I scratch my arm off??
Not shitting you, my entire body from belly button down is itching with a rash. I had it with C but on my stomach and arms. I think it's the painkillers because now that I'm hardly taking them, it's starting to get better.

I get super irritated from adhesive. Whenever I get really itchy, I put deodorant on the the spot. It works for stuff like this, bug bites, and all sorts of other things. (Well, on me at least. It's worth a try, since you already have it at home)

OMG that sounds awful! Morphine made me super itchy, but luckily my vicodin and ibuprofen is ok and is currently my best friend.

huh, never heard of that. Thanks! Pleasant side effect is smelling like rainkissed water lily.
Also can you take claratin or alavert? It won't be an instant solution, but might work better than the zyrtec (or just differently). I believe you can take claratin/alavert at the same time as zyrtec, though you might want to check in with our resident pharmacist.
Is there a topical cream you can use, like one made for poison ivy or something? I just got some from CVS for a random rash he had, and he said the itching has gone down considerably.
Yup. Adhesive tape itself isn't usually too too terrible but when it's left on too long, I definitely react. I am also allergic to Dermablast (they used it instead of stitches when I got my gallbladder out) and Chloraprep (surgical sterile prep). My ortho though they all might have a common chemical element but wasn't sure off the top of her head. I haven't been successful in finding out whether that's the case but watch out if you need either of those things!
And isn't it crazy how allergies change and develop even as adults? My friend became allergic to latex only about two years ago - so severe she can't even use her yoga mat without special gloves and can't wear a lot of undies!

Aww shit. I'm getting my gallbladder out in the next couple months. I bet I'll be allergic to the glue just like I am with adhesive. Booo.
I'm allergic to adhesive tape. I usually put Hydrocortisone cream and vow to myself to always ask if it's hypoallergenic the next time. Yeah, I always forget.

Just ask for something else! Don't they have those dissolving stitches? There must be something. But even if you can't, just ask the doctor about removing it. My surgeon said it would just peel off and leave it alone but then my OBGYN (the next doc I saw, after the reaction) said WTF and took it off herself.
Oh lord, I still remember the itchiness on my belly from that. I was convinced I had PUPPS (I was like, five weeks pregnant), lol. Life is so much better without my gallbladder though, you will be happy.

You had your gallbladder removed during pregnancy?
I can't wait till my gallbladder is out. I am so over gallbladder attacks. Plus the condition I had while pregnant(and will have again in my next pregnancy) will put more stress on my sucky GB so I need it out before I get KU. My surgical consultant was all "the last thing we need to do is put you under the knife fore emergency surgery at 30 weeks pregnant. Let's get that sucker out ASAP!" Haha.

Yes, during pregnancy but it was accidental. My gallbladder had been failing for about two years but I was misdiagnosed as IBS. It totally went kaput over a 10 day period while I was visiting my parents - couldn't eat, couldn't get out of bed, nothing. They didn't diagnose until my second ER visit and I had surgery 12 hours later. They asked me in the hospital if I could be pregnant and while I answered yes (we'd just started TTC), they only gave me a pee test and it came back negative.
Less than two weeks later, I had a funny feeling, POAS and proceeded to freak about all the drugs I'd taken. Baby is fine though.
Yes, the emergency nature of it made recovery tough. Even though it was laproscopic, it was harder than my c-section so it's great that you have it scheduled and everything. I hear that makes it so much easier.

Oh wow! I have a friend who had hers fail vs just have stones (like both my mom and I) and she was miserable just like you described! I'm glad everything worked out in the end for you though!
My worst attacks were all within my first month PP. I went to the ER for the first one but the pain subsided(aka the stone moved I'm guessing)before I could get seen. I spent over an hour and a half waiting.
It took me several more 10-13hour attacks later until I finally got an idea of what I was dealing with. I first called it back pain and blamed my epi. They had issues placing it and had to start over because I jumped so I thought it was plausible, but I was wrong.
Due to changing insurances and being uninsured for a period of time I just got around to the ultrasound to find my stone in November. We're trying to wait to close on our house before we add massive amounts of medical expenses on our plate. I also need my wisdom teeth out ASAP. Uuuugh.

Not to be an alarmist or anything but my BFF had major complications from her surgery due to an allergy to the adhesive. I don't recall the details and it wasn't a c/s it was a mastectomy but I would call your doc tomorrow just in case.

Adhesive allergies are very common, but it should be getting better and not worse. I'd def call. If they think it's just an allergy I'd ask for a rx strength cortisone cream.
