I had to go to the dentist yesterday since the tooth pain came back in full force after I stopped the pain meds. Apparently a wisdom tooth had an almost invisible cavity on the surface but was basically hollow on the inside to the root. Sooooo I had to get it pulled today.
They didn't want to put me under because of the problem with my slow heart rate right now. And they didn't want to give me the local with epinephrine because of bf'ing. So they gave me the local without it, which my dentist assured me would still work fine. They gave me the injections and waited and he came back in. I was expecting some sort of freaking test to see if I was numb but the fucker just grabbed the tooth and started pulling. I felt unbelievable pain and started screaming. So they ask "oh does that hurt?" Seriously!?!? Do you think???
So he injected me with more and let me sit there for another few minutes in insane pain. The assistant was so sweet and felt so bad (and kept wiping my tears away for me lol) and was explaining that the meds without epi just don't work as well. So I said I don't care about my milk just PLEASE give me the other medicine that will make this stop. So they gave me a shot that helped some and yanked the stupid tooth out While I cried like a hormonal baby still in pain. Now I'm sitting here waiting for dh to get my rx filled, bleeding and drooling and vowing to never go to the dentist or oral surgeon again. Ever. And my damn Cs still hurts.

We have to give carbocaine sometimes and it's just not as effective because it doesn't last long. I'm so sorry about your tooth. Hopefully you start to feel better.

Is that the sucky one without the epinephrine? Because dear god it didn't work at all!! And thank you
I'm so sorry. The local shots the dentist gives don't always work on me either. I've had to reschedule before bc I wasn't getting numb and they can only give so much, which obviously you didn't have the option of. I really hope you start feeling better on all fronts soon!

Yeah, I asked if I could just quit lol. But she said uh, sorry the tooth is already on its way out.

Yes, it is. We rarely use it becaues of that. Sometimes we have a patient with a health issue and we use it. Please don't let that bad experience keep you from going to the dentist though. You probably had a bad infection and anaesthetic doesn't work well if a tooth has infection due to the acidic environment.

The dentist said there was no infection. She said the tooth would be "really easy" to pull out since it wasn't impacted, etc. She just didn't want to do it because she said it would break and she knew he would have better tools or something. I'll go back... Eventually. But I will never have a tooth pulled by that guy again that's for sure.
