This. I need it to be cold to be able to sleep. In the winter we keep our house at 68 as well. We have a newer house with energy efficient appliances so that helps...
We keep it around 72. We don't have central A/C but instead these super efficient wall mounted units. We only turn on the one in the living area and the one in our bedroom, and they come with little remotes so I can adjust from bed. It's awesome.
I'm convinced thermostat temps are somewhat arbitrary, like one persons house set to 78 might feel the same as mine set to 74. I think a lot of it depends on where your thermostat is in the house.
I agree. Ours is right next to the two story living area and I think that the area just doesn't cool down as quickly as the rest of the house.

I WFH and keep it around 75 during the day. When H gets home he turns it down to 72/73 and we keep it there through the night. We shut it off completely when we aren't home - we live in a small-ish condo and it cools down really quick.
72. Any higher and our husky would be miserable. Fortunately we have a small home and a newer central air system.
We have to keep our house cooler than we would like for Dexter too. He's not a husky, but in his old age, he's become unable to tolerate any but very cool temperatures. Otherwise we would keep it around 74 - 75.
We do not have AC and have managed to keep the house at about 74-75 degress during this spell of high temps. We open the windows at night and close them first thing in the morning.
I'm in AZ, so it's always this hot. In the summer we keep the a/c at 79, I would have to wear sweatshirts in my house if I kept it at 75 or lower. And we'd be broke.
I keep it at 80 during the day and 74 at night. I prefer it to be 76 at night, but DH bitches too much so I throw on extra covers. We live in Dallas so 100+ in the summer is pretty normal for us.
It's amazing to me to think that we didn't have any AC growing up. My parents didn't put it in their house until I went to college. It never seemed like a big deal when I was a kid but now it would feel borderline barbaric without it! lol.

78-80. That's pretty much my summertime standard, whether or not we're in a heat wave. Although in the crazy triple digit heat days, I try to keep it at 80 or even 81 to reduce stress on the grid.
We are in Texas and set it at 82 while we are at work and 77 when we are home. My co-worker told me his wife controls the temp of their house at 83 with fans in each room and won't let him set it lower. He's freaking miserable and is working a lot of hours lately..lol.
80 when we are home. I might turn it down a bit when I am getting ready. It feels plenty cool enough for me at 80. I hate a/c and only turn it on when we get temps above 90's outside (which this summer seems to be all the time).
