Does the guy having anti sperm antibodies mean that IUI won't work?
The reason I'm asking is that we did 2 Gonal F IUI's and then decided on IVF and that was when MH had his sperm tested for ASA and they were positive so we had to do ICSI. Sperm numbers were always great and motility was low normal but the ASA wasn't done prior to IUI.
Obv the IVF didn't take but now I'm wondering if we should have even bothered with the IUI to begin with. If that is the case, I'm pretty pissed.
And also, the fact that we have one kid...does that make her a miracle baby of sorts? Like, we shouldn't have been able to get pregnant with her in the first place?

Hmm, that's interesting @mavjen. My H had a prostate infection right before we started trying. I wonder if he has been tested for antibodies, and I wonder how long they are produced after an infection. I think I'll ask next week at my appointment.
@mavjen, no injuries or infections we're aware of. And the other interesting thing related to the existence of DD is that I had a blocked tube on the right for who knows how long.
I don't really know what to think about it. What little I've read about ASA seems to indicate that IUI is basically contraindicated with it.
I'm going to ask but I'm going to be seeing a new one next time (in the same group) and I just wanted to see what others were told about ASA. The one I saw told me about it at an appointment just before IVF and I got a brusque answer about it at the time and have been thinking about it more recently. I don't think it was the cause of the failed IVF but I'm going to be pretty upset if I wasted thousands of dollars on IUI's I could have skipped
The part about DD is just curiosity really, not really something I NEED to know.
No advice, just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you. I know you didn't have the best experience with Dr. V so hopefully another doctor will be a better fit!

I think it is something like 3 months? DH had a prostate infection and we were that the sperm that was being made during that time would be the sperm that is present in 3 months? Or maybe I am remembering wrong. It was really weird. Off to google
I am surprised they would do the IUI without testing for ASA. When we went, they did a full work up before we attempted anything. But we also wasted our time on 7 IUI's when IVF was really the only way for us to conceive. I'm guessing it depends on the practice. We also have to use ICSI because of his low motility and counts.
I'm sorry it didn't work for you.
And your little one is a miracle regardless There is a possibility that she was just conceived on a really good month!
