Does anyone here suffer from migraines? If you do, then do you have a treatment plan for during your pregnancy?
I had a terrible sinus pain for the past few months and was recently diagnosed with cluster headaches, which is a rare form of migraine. My obgyn doesn't want me taking imitrex at all, and my neurologist is going to call and talk to her today about weighing the pros and cons. Unlike normal migraines, my pain comes in the middle of the night and it keeps me awake. I go through 4-5 days with no sleep at all, and it worries me.

I didn't have any problems with headaches until about week 12, then migraines became a daily thing. My OB prescribed Fiorcet, which has helped tremendously. FX they can get you in a regimen that works! Migraines are miserable.
Fiorcet helps blunt the pain for about 30 mins at the most, and it has started aggravating an old ulcer. So I have stopped taking that for now. My neuro gave me a script for Vicodin and that does nothing for the pain.
I've had migraines my whole life and they are medication resistant. I noticed a sharp uptick right around week 12 as well, and my OB "prescribed" me caffeine. I had cut all of it out during first tri, and adding it back in helped tremendously. He said in the grand scheme of things, a Diet Coke just isn't that big a deal.
I hope you find some relief. Unfortunately, there aren't many migraine meds that are safe for pregnancy.
I don't have a severe migraine problem, but I've had 2 so far while pregnant. Caffeine really helps me and along with that, I just rode them out with Tylenol and rest. Ugh, I feel horrible for you guys that deal with them on a regular basis!!
I've been having bad headaches/migraines recently and was treating them with vicodin maybe once week which worked but just got a rx for midrin. It's been helping them too usually after the first dose so I dont have to take too many.
I have migraines but have been pretty lucky overall during pregnancy. I did have some terrible migraines first Tri that kept me from sleeping due to the pain. My doctor gave me Norco which took the edge off, but made me even more nauseous & constipated If you have Vicodin or Norco, you can take two at a time if one doesn't help. Try caffeine too. Good luck & all my sympathy for dealing with this!

I've had chronic migraines for over a decade, mostly because of condition called occipital neuralgia. Since I went of BCP they've mostly been under control, but last week or two (wks 10,11 of pregnancy) I've been rebounding from one to the next. I've been "treating" with 1000 mg Tylenol and ice packs, which have only helped minimally.
Called midwives today and they recommended cup of coffee along w Tylenol & ice and it actually worked (never worked for me in past).
Starfish, my neuro first thought I had trigeminal neuralgia, however she diagnosed me with cluster headaches because the migraines would begin at 3am and 3pm like clockwork.
I tried the caffiene route but it actually triggers an attack within 5 minutes. Right now I am treating it with a high dose of vitamin D and magnesium. It has reduced the frequency and duration by a lot.
I also tried inhaling oxygen at a high flow rate to abort the attack, it helped at first but then it started triggering rebound headaches.
I get migraines caused by pinched nerves in my neck. I drink a soda with caffeine and put ben-gay or icehot on my neck and forehead. Sometimes an ice bag works. I also take 2 Tylenol. I usually take 800mg of Ibuprofen but can't while pregnant. A dark room also helps.
I had migraines before I got pregnant and then had them with sinus pressure when pregnant. Here is what helped me: -In the mornings I used the neti pot with just water, in the evenings I used it with salt -Take tylenol, drink a cup of coffee, use saline spray and sit in the dark when I got a migraine
I do the above too. I put ice packs on my forhead & neck when i get a migraine. Nothing helps. They just have to run the course with me.
