I really fucking hate house hunting

I really, really do.

There's very little inventory, everything is expensive, and DH has problems with every place we see.

We looked at a house in our ideal area on Monday. It literally back to the highway and is SO loud. DH was all "I like it!" WTF is your problem!? We cannot buy this house!

Then we saw a really great one today and he had all kinds of complaints. Mostly because it's outside his ideal area.

I hate it all. Fucking house hunting.

Ugh, we looked for a house for so long. I can't even say. It was the source of much stress and frustration, to say the least! I hope you find a perfect place soon.

Yup. There is nothing fun about it. We fell out of escrow in a crazy fashion in Jan and just lost another house when it went for almost $200K over asking. :/

Specifically? North of 25, south of 10th. West of Colorado Blvd., east of Lincoln.

The nice house we saw today is in University Hills, which is outside the ideal area, but still pretty good.

Marginally interested in Centennial, but it's pretty far south for us.

Yep. I wanted to kill my h. Kill. He found something wrong with every single house we looked at, then he kept looking at shit that was at least $50,000 over our budget AND in the middle of nowhere.

Agreed. That's where relocating for a job is a blessing and a curse. Unless we wanted to rent first (which is probably smartest, but a PITA), we have had to find a house in one weekend each time we have moved. Lots of time crunch stress, but less stress of finding the perfect house. You just have to choose the closest from what's available. Rip off the bandaid and offer. Then, when you argue about who had to compromise later on, you can blame the time frame instead of the other person.

I feel like if DH and I survive house hunting, we'll survive anything. He's the most indecisive person I ever met. Example: when we go out to dinner, he'll be torn between two different entrees. It will take him a good 15 minutes to pick between those two, and then he spends the entire dinner second guessing and wishing he had chosen the other house. When he needs new body wash/deodorant/socks, I will leave him in the aisle, do all the other shopping, come back, and make the decision for him just so we can leave. And he's supposed to make a decision on how to spend many thousands of dollars? Ha!

Haven't done house hunting, but I can commiserate in regards to apartment hunting.
DH is so picky but often about things that are so unimportant - like how open and nice the lobby of the building is - whothefuck cares? We spend maybe 5 minutes in the thing every day? And I'll take a dishwasher and oven over a nice lobby anyway. Ugh.

Oh this makes more sense. I was thinking of the major Lincoln further south which runs e-w. And 25 is always n-s to me regardless. Lol

That is a tough area to look in without an astronomic budget. I pity you. Lol

When we were leaving the showing today, we were discussing how high some houses are priced for what they're worth. Our realtor told us he just listed a house about two weeks ago and they were pretty aggressive with their initial sales price. He told his client he was going to drop the price after two weeks. That time is up tomorrow. Today, they got two offers. One for $30k less than asking, one for $1k over asking and all cash. wtf, man?

lol, right? We're totally the poors in this area. I pity me too. For the record, the house next to the highway is that $348 at the bottom of the square. Literally, backyard on I25. It was so fucking loud.

I'm really pushing for UHills because good stuff pops up in there from time to time. But I'm basically so over it that I think my plan for now is to let DH decide what he wants to look at and tag along for the ride. I'm over trying to convince him of stuff and I definitely don't want to feel like I'm pushing him on the biggest purchase of his life. Martyr wife, party of 1. lol

They haven't cooled here. Inventory is crap and there almost always seems to be an all cash offer that is made on the good houses. A seven fucking figure all cash offer!!! I mean, we just can't compete with that, you know?
