Good morning, ladies and gentleman. Apologies for the pinkeye I was sporting last night. But if not for that, I wouldn't have looked so dashing in those glasses I was wearing.
Tonight we bring you the Opening Ceremony. Please use this thread for running commentary, which I'm sure will be excellent. They are scheduled to be aired at 8:00 pm EST on NBC. No clue what the airing schedule is like up in Commie Canada. Highlights will include the United States entering the stadium with flagbearer Todd Lodwick, who is competing in a sport that no Americans know anything about but AMERICA FUCK YEAH! Also, there is still time for Russia to start another war against Georgia like they did right before the Beijing Opening Ceremony - and Russia's got home field advantage this time! In addition, the Ceremony will celebrate Russian history and culture by reenacting the execution of Czar Nicholas II and his family and having a special Stolichnaya bottle toss to the spectators instead of the usual t-shirt toss you see at American baseball games. Putin will also make his appearance on horseback while shirtless. Finally, we eagerly await Team Germany's entrance so we can see what abomination they are wearing this time. No matter what they wear, we can all be assured that everyone's first thought will be "Well, we can't expect anything different from a country whose hero is David Hasselhoff."
There will be no other events tonight except the Ceremony, plus live footage of Lindsay Vonn and her boyfriend Tiger Woods walking their dog.
In a summary of last night's coverage, Yevgeny Plushenko continues to try and make love to me with his eyes through the TV screen. Slopestyle is officially cool but it's a shame those hot female snowboarders can't snowboard in bikinis. My knees hurt just by watching ski moguls.
Please discuss your thoughts about last night and share photos of hot Olympians as well. Remember, no discussion in this thread of the actual Opening Ceremony until 8:00 pm EST even though it's due to start within the next couple of hours.

My friend and I are exchanging daily photos during the Olympics of Yevgeny Plushenko looking all sultry. Today I got a picture of him holding a rose. He's dreamy.
Commie Canada cares more about the Olympics than the USA as we actually SHOW THE OPENING CEREMONY LIVE, BITCHES!!!! Starting at 10am today, it is on two Canadian networks.
Then again, if I had as mediocre of a hockey team as Team USA, I would time delay everything too

We're all at work. No generous leave policies for us!

Haha I'm at work but live streaming.
So is most of the office. It is absolutely acceptable to watch the ceremony over doing work (but we are all realtors, so the joke is on us when we are all broke in 3 months).
Hanyu rocked my world. I hate how Plushenko's programs are all the same, jump, jump, jump and now for the rest of the program.
I was so annoyed with Jeremy Abbott last night for having such a crappy performance. Dude, get a sports psychologist to help you deal with your nerves. He may have cost us a medal in the team event.

I haven't paid attention to skating in ages and Plushenko's the only one I'd ever heard of. He's never been one of my favorites (jump, wave arms around dramtically, jump, jump, wave arms some more, oh look I spin a tiny bit, more meaningless arm waving, THERE--I AM FANTASTIC, Applaud me now!). Hanyu was freaking amazing. Technically and artistically amazing. And, hey, actually fun to watch!

I wasn't shocked, he ALWAYS chokes in International competions.
I loved watching Meryl Davis behind him in the kiss and cry, it was almost like she was saying, "Don't worry Charlie and I have this covered."
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

I was told yesterday I couldn't side eye him for trying to cry.
So, the Russian pair skaters, was their costume political? It looked to me like it was a nod to the tsar era. I would have guessed that's controversial, but no one said anything, so maybe not?

I wasn't even thinking about the political aspects, I just thought the guy's costume was hilarious.

I wasn't shocked either, but still annoyed.
Meryl was too funny. "There, there" at those sucky scores.
I said it last night but I will say it again. You did a fine job incorporating the word Pussy a few times in last night's broadcast. Keep up the good work.
Last night, my husband asked if I thought these Olympics would lead to another Cold War. Care to weigh in on that,Bob Costas ?
Also, the most exciting thing last night was the pussy riot story. If you get a chance, could you tell whoever is in charge that I don't give a shit about those three Canadian sisters? Plus, I felt like all of the people talking about them were trying too hard to pronounce their last name. They sounded douchey.

USA USA USA USA USA USA!!!!!
Yes, STOP with the damn sisters who you no one can pronounce their names.
@lauriergirl28- I just tuned in 15 mins late and the teams were already entering. Did I miss the damn show? Was it that short??
It was only about 20 minutes long.
My live feed is delayed about 5 minutes. I have teams entering now - Austria. Boring outfit.
ETA - apparently Austria was a bid for these Olympics and their whole premise was "we won't be SOCHI". LOL. I bet the IOC wishes they had considered Austria now.
