At my Target, there's only been about two racks of plus size clothes and two racks of maternity clothes for the last several years. Compared to the four racks of juniors swimsuits. But, I'm just bitter because I'm fat and have been pregnant lately, so there's not much for me to look at as far as clothes go.
Strange. Nordstrom got rid of their plus sized collection in many of their stores last year, though it's still available online. Doesn't make any sense to me!

They're doing away with the plus-sized department? That's fucked up. But perhaps it was a miscommunication (they're moving the dept, clearancing out the dept for the season, etc). I just can't imagine Target would be stupid enough, esp amid the whole data theft scandal, to eliminate the plus department in a store.
I think that they are launching a new plus-sized line?
Maybe that's it. But the associates aren't aware of it, I guess. They're just like, "sorry, this is all we have; they're not getting more in stock." I think they're either unaware or deliberately withholding that info bc these people are such jerks.
My target has signs up saying a new plus line will launch in February.

I am a buyer, so this hits close to home. I assume they will continue to carry plus size, since apparel is the highest margin category in retail, and they need it to balance out areas like electronics, where sales are much closer to cost.
It puts the sales assoc in an unfair spot though. The person who runs Women's clothing in the store has visibility to how the next 60 or so days should look merchandising wise. The person working on Saturday afternoon is not getting that level of communication, although they should know that there were delays in delivering the new receipts. I would be communicating that out.
We often deliver colors in a style to exist on the floor for 8-10 weeks, sell down, and then be replaced by the next pop of color. So it is sometimes technically correct to say no more of a particular item is coming in, but in reality, the overall program will be in the store much longer, just in fresh colors, short-sleeve vs long, some updates like that.
No, they are not getting rid of plus, they just don't have it in this set. They got a new designer, and are having distribution issues because the first round of clothing was involved in a recall. They are trying to cover up the mistake with a clearance block, and it is not going over well. It's disappointing that the team members couldn't field those questions.
When the Missoni line came out--and their whole website crashed, it was all over the news etc, etc, I went in to my Target SUPER early, to get first dibs...I was looking for the stuff, and I asked an associate in the clothing area "I'm looking for the Missoni clothing?"
Response: "What's that?" (huh)
The sales associates aren't exactly encyclopedias of information.
That's odd. Mine has had prominent signage for a while that a new plus-size collection is being released this month or next.
There is such a wide range in how well stores execute pretty much everything.
Some stores are always on the ball and complete stuff like that on time, while I can tell others haven't read anything they have been sent. They are usually the ones who complain the most.
Target has plus-size in store? Oh, I haven't noticed. Every Target I've been in has one rack of 14-16 size jeans, and a rack of moo-moo style dresses that aren't clearly plus-size or maternity. I've given up any idea of finding clothes there.

I think you might be thinking of Bloomingdales. Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack still have their plus size section Encore in stores.

sent from my crappy phone
I just remember a flurry of outrage on their FB page last year about removing that department from all the smaller stores. Maybe they changed their minds? I'm pretty sure their isn't an Encore at my closest store anymore.

I've been bummed about their maternity section, too. The one at my store is paltry.
