My kitty passed this morning. The vet called and her kidney labs were extremely high (like, H said if they were human test results that person would immediately start dialysis. The actual numbers, not scaled up for weight or anything). So even though she had perked up slightly after fluids, there was really nothing we could do. She was in better spirits this morning, and that really made me hesitate, but the vet shared this little tidbit with me - that in the end of life decline for animals, there will be peaks and valleys. When there is no more treatment to actually fix the problem left, it can be better to say goodbye during a peak, when the pet is comfortable instead of waiting for a time for them to hit rock bottom.
I know there are a lot of sad pet posts here lately. We're not sharing this on FB, but I needed to let it out somewhere, because I'm not out of tears yet for my sweet Hoolie.
I'm sorry She was beautiful and looks so sweet in those pictures. I love the advice your vet gave you. I'll definitely keep that in mind when the time comes for my old girl. ((Hugs))
