Anyone else have a snow day today? I was feeling kind of guilty when I woke up and there was barely any snow out there, but now it is coming down really hard and everything is sticking.
Of course I actually have tons of work to do so I am kind of annoyed as I can't access all our systems remotely, but I'm going to try to actually accomplish something today.
Our office is closed for a holiday tomorrow and Monday, so its a 5 day weekend for me!
DD went to school this morning, but they're calling for early dismissal. She gets out at noon anyway, so it's a wash. However, DH took off the rest of the week (before he starts his new job Monday, woot!) and he took DD to school. I'm feeling under the weather (no pun intended), so I'm sitting here in my bathroom, watching the news, and working on a freelance project. The company I work for (in NJ) said everyone is working from home today.
DH is killing time before dismissal by shopping at Bass Pro Shops!
So jealous of your five-day weekend, LoveTrains! What's the holiday tomorrow?
I'm stuck in the office and am bitter about it
LOL, the holiday is "long winter weekend".
Today is also H's birthday. We are going out for lunch down the street to get margaritas. :drink: :Y: Later this afternoon I might get a mani/pedi with a coworker.
You can see I am being very productive.
I figure that I have five days to finish up my to-do list from work, so why work on it now?
I am working from home today, which is shocking because they never let us WFH.
My mom and stepdad were supposed to leave this morning for a sailing trip in the BVI. Their flight was cancelled and they can't get any other flight until weds or thursday. They are not happy and I feel really bad for them.
Snowing pretty heavy in my area! We had nothing this morning but it is picking up. H drove into Boston, I hope he can get out okay!
preppy: That sucks when the storm messes up a trip. I hope they can reschedule or get their money back. I got so lucky with my FL trip, sneaked down and back on clear days between snow storms!

No snow day here as it is only raining. But I am home for the second day in a row recovering from a tummy bug and taking care of my little one who has a nasty cold.
preppy, no other flights until Wednesday or Thursday?! That's crazy! Can they get their money back on any of the stuff they booked in BVI, or at least rebook it for a later date? I hope they're at least retired and have all the time in the world to book another trip because that's a whole week gone!
Aaaand now it's snowing like the dickens downtown again. Big, fat flakes, too.
They were sailing on a friends catamaran so they won't lose anything but the friends rent out the boat most other weeks so they can't rebook. It really sucks. They are retired so they atleast can take another trip at another time. The worst part is all their friends were flying down Saturday and they were going early so their friends will be there and they won't. I just talked to my mom and she's having a mid day martini out to lunch. I can't say I blame her.
No snow day here and still no early release. My boss said if we want to leave early we can, just to use vacation time or personal time. I'm going to take off early as it's pretty bad out when I was driving around for errands before lunch and it's certainly not getting any better. You'd think campus was like Georgia as I've only seen one facilities plow truck around campus all day and it's clearly not keeping up on the snow removal.
Wish me luck as I go try to get myself out and home!
I don't know what I was thinking when I got dressed this morning but I'm wearing light gray pants that show every bit of splash up from walking and a short coat instead of my long, heavy down. At least I have boots (even though I wore the short ones)?
I am so tired of every pair of pants I own having snow/slush/crapfrombrushingupagainstmycar on the back of them. I swear I could wash them every time I wear them, but they're almost all dry clean only, so whatever.
I kept thinking maybe they'd let us go home early today, but nope. Which isn't surprising, because last week, we were one of the only two universities open in the entire area. (Well, of the "big" names, anyway.) It's like they let us have the two hours that day it didn't snow all that much and got duped, so they're never going to let us have time again. Jerks.
