DH leaves tomorrow for a three week business trip.
I'm kinda looking forward to having the house to myself.
I'm also going in for a cortisol test on Monday. I hope it'll help us figure out why the heck I'm so tired all the time. (I've got classic hypothyroid symptoms, basically, but thyroid issues have been ruled out.)
I need the heatwave to end because I really want to do some baking so I have desserts on hand .
I am trying to figure out how to cut back on more things in my bare bones budget so that I can put more money on my student loans and pay them off faster. The problem I am having is that I really don't want to cut back any further on going out and entertainment and those are the only places I have left to cut back.

So we are at the zoo on the 4th of July, and we're standing in front of the meerkats, watching a keeper talk about them & feed them. Then, a man's voice comes on over her walkie talkie.
"We need an insect keeper at the insect house right away! A beetle has flipped over on its back & cannot get up!"
It was pretty funny to know that zoo emergencies are not all about lions escaping lol.

The past 18 hours have been a series of compounding minor disasters. Long story short, the dentist says I need three fillings replaced, despite scouring two malls I still don't have a new swimsuit to take on vacation later this month, my new Reef flip flops came in the mail but are too small because they don't sell half sizes, and various baking failures kept me up 'til almost 2 a.m. and scrambling to get cupcakes assembled all morning.
Now I'm waiting for a co-worker to pick me up, but I don't know when she'll be here. I plan to grab the cupcakes and run out the door the moment she pulls up; my house is in no shape for visitors!
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!

Last night we went to the movies at the mall. When we were stepping on the escalator a woman behind us says loudly and in a bitchy tone "those are the lazy man's stairs" to her little kid. ^o)
We bought our 70 pound pup a kiddie pool yesterday and he is OBSESSED with it, he keeps crying to go back outside so he can play in it. It's adorable.

That sounds like zookeeper humor to me.
Lol, I hadn't thought of that. I bet you're right.
I took my car to the dealership to get my oil changed. I had an appt and it still took 2.5 hours. The service guy acted all surprised that I was mad I had to wait so long and he said there were "40 cars ahead of me but since I had an appt I jumped to the head of the line". Ummm no dude there was no way there were 40 cars getting oil changes. A girl next me got there at 7:30 for an oil change and was still waiting at 11. If someone calls me to rate my experience I will tell them how bad they sucked. Not going back there again!
I bought two tickets to see the local soccer team play a long time ago because the team was doing a groupon deal and the tickets were super cheap. I have no interest in soccer, so I kept secretly hoping H would find someone else to go with. But that didn't happen because H doesn't really have any friends, so I have to go with him tonight. And it is over 100 degrees today, I'm sure it won't be much better at 7 pm when the game is. And we have agreed not to get drinks/snacks there since drinks at sports games are so not MM. I told H I wanted to try to sneak in stuff, but he thinks that won't work because they might search our bags. I am so not looking forward tonight.
Some idiot has their Porsche blocking in my car at my apartment. I really hope it is gone I don't have to figure out which apartment they are visiting so that I can leave later.
I'm kinda bummed that I now have a low tolerance for alcohol. Anytime I have more than 2 drinks in one day (even hours apart), I feel like shit the next day. Boo.
I'm going to Vegas on Monday by myeself for a conference. I'm a little scared ad a little excited! Scared because I am going with new co-workers, I think I have met maybe one person one time out of the 7 of us that are going. I hope they are fun people! I'm excited because I get to go on this trip alone!! I also have a hotel room to myself, thank god, I don't want to listen to other people breathe!
I'm working on the critical analysis sample for my MFA application. I requested 3 different books through the inter-library loan program 3 weeks ago and they aren't in yet. I'm annoyed because I can see that one of the local universities has all of them, so I can't figure out why they aren't sharing. I think I'm just going to cancel the request and go spend a day at the university's library to get the information I need.
DH and I have both been off since Wed, and I haven't hardly done a thing (I did clean our bathroom and throw in a load of laundry). I've been sitting on my ass happy as a clam while he chops up and freezes veggies from the garden and makes a chicken salad. I can tell he's a little irritated that I'm not doing anything, but I have no plans to get up unless he specifically asks.
I'm feeling kind of cranky. Here are my reasons - they are all stupid
1. I paid $9.50 to see a movie last night (Ted). The movie was ok but I think $9.50 is a joke of a price. Also we were having "girls night out" but all we did was see the movie and go home. It was nice to see my friends but I'd rather have spent $9.50 on drinks or something more interactive.
2. Costco was amazing today BUT took way too much of my day and I had a bad headache when I got there so the crowds were a bit much
3. I was supposed to get dinner and see a play with a friend tonight, but she's tight on money and bailed on dinner. I'm not crabby with her (totally understandable!) but I don't feel like cooking and like my movie complaint, I don't feel like going "out" is as much fun if all you do is watch something in silence and then go home. At least the play is Hairspray so I know it will be a fun one.
I think if it wasn't a bazillion degrees outside none of the above would bother me, but I'm tired of being hot anytime I do anything (like sweating bringing in groceries?) and my lawn/garden need watering which means I'll have to do that after I get home tonight because if I do it now it isn't good for the lawn since it is so hot/sunny. I just want one cloudy/rainy day or at least one that isn't blazing hot.
I'm also pissed that I spent another $45 today buying another gallon of paint, some goo gone, and a sander to fix the paint job that our shitty handyman did 2 weeks ago. I actually think he may have taken the last can of paint home with him because we bought 4 cans and he left 3 empties behind. When we bought the 4th it was a "just in case" can so I don't think it all got used. But it is not here, so I just bought a 5th.
So now we're about $70 over budget (originally thought we'd need 3 cans) and I still have to spend part of my day tomorrow finishing the job. Grrr. I had hoped to do that today but then I spent 3 hours at Costco instead.... :@
This is so lame and paranoid but my little sister is out of town and I texted her over and hour ago and she still hasn't written back. I sent her another text saying "are you in a ditch?" and she still hasn't responded. I am turning into my mother. But where the HELL is my sister?

SIL called at 3:45 pm to invite us to a surprise birthday party for her son. Tonight. They live nearly 3 hour drive away. She had the nerve to get pissed when DH told her we wouldn't be coming. Proceeded to rant that her other brother & his wife/kids weren't coming either and what jerks we all are. The other brother lives in the same town as she does, but the whole family is out of town for the weekend for the oldest girl's softball tournament. Something that's been planned for weeks and which SIL knew.
Passive aggressive FB statuses to commence shortly.
Ummmm.... it is about a guy who made a wish as a kid that his teddy bear could talk and be his best friend, and it came true. Now they are 35 (well I guess the bear probably is younger) and the bear is basically a bad influence loser friend and the main guy is dating a girl who wants him to grow up.
The premise of the movie is kind of ridiculous actually, lol. But the humor is alright. It is probably a movie I would have had more fun renting for $1.29 and watching with DH but it wasn't awful or anything. If you like Family Guy/raunchy humor you'd probably enjoy it.

Yes! I don't really care for going to movies with friends, I would rather go to a bar and have a drink and chat. Or at least watch a movie at someones house where you can pause it or be comfy
