Ds sleeps constantly and it's usually super easy to get him to sleep. Like it's literally swaddle, put down, pop in the paci and see you in three hours. Is this him or b/c he's still new? (Ds1 was term and never easy to put down.)
And if it is b/c he's new how long should I expect it to last?
Also- I was told not to take him out in enclosed places. I wanted to walk down to walgreens today b/c we forgot to get ds anything for v-day. Do you think I am being risky in thinking about doing this? I would be in and out in less than 10 min. With sb in the stroller.
I could NOT get DS to wake up until well after his due date. Kid liked his sleep. It's why he was in the NICU for 3 weeks. He needed to eat and he would sleep for long stretches and thru his meals so he failed the "going home" tests for FORever.
Once he was home, he was a good sleeper, but I remember it took him a while to start to snap out of it. His naps were long and he was very content in his RnP.
NOW? I know that you should be relishing these times!!! My kid hates to miss a party so he fights going to bed. I'm like YOU need sleep! Mommy needs to watch The Walking Dead! Go to bed!! Mind you, it's 9:30PM and I'm all ^o) why won't you go to sleep?!?
One of the milestones to get out of our nicu is that babies wake up on their own to eat. They barely did that by the time they were home and they obtained to sleep most of the time for probably a couple months adjusted.
We literally only leave the house with the girls to go to drs appointments and to grandparents houses. Our drs have basically told us to be shut ins. I think we are being a little overly cautious but we do live in a cold climate where RSV is in full force and out girls were only 3lbs at birth so we are being careful.
Our baby went down really easy until 2 weeks before her EDD. Seems like that's when she discovered she had vocal cords. Since her due date, she has become high maintenance and naps best in grandma's lap. Luckily the RNP is a close second. At nights, even though she only sleeps in 2 - 3 hour stretches, she falls back asleep almost right away. For now. Though only if she sleeps on my bed. She sleeps very poorly in the crib these days.
We were also told not to take her anywhere except doctor's visits due to fear of RSV or flu. She is almost 10 weeks old and we are still heeding this advice though I am ready to go somewhere, anywhere with her. I have cabin fever really bad. I would feel fine at this point taking her to an empty store (she is 3 weeks adjusted age), but my husband and mother would never let me live it down if she got sick after just that one trip.

DS is 2 weeks old and was 4 weeks early. The pedi said to just not take him to super crowded places and to keep people away. We have absolutely taken him out on errands and did so in the first week but made sure it was middle if the day.
Can't help with the sleep question because mine is still super sleepy! I'm following these responses closely, haha.

Yep, DD slept a LOT until a little after her due date IIRC. She was 9 weeks early. She could sleep through anything too - people would come visit, we would be laughing and talking and she would fall asleep in her bouncy seat and sleep right through it. One friend who has a 2 year old commented that her kid was NEVER like that.
Then she went through a phase of being the worst napper ever, LOL.
As far as taking your baby out, I would. I've been taking DD to the grocery store, CVS, and other random errands since she came home. I almost always wear her. That helps keep people away and keeps her less exposed to germs since she's right up on my chest. I used a Boba wrap until she was about 12 lbs and could fit in the Ergo.
DS was 7 weeks early. He could sleep through a freight train coming through the living room after being in the NICU for 4 weeks. He slept a lot up until his due date, or maybe a few weeks after.
We would take DS out to stores, restaurants etc since we brought him home. We would just wear him if it was a situation where people touching him might be likely. Otherwise we kept him in his seat and had a blanket to drape over the carseat.

Mine wasn't early but she was in the nicu. She's content to sleep all day until we wake her every 2.5 hours to eat. I think being surrounded by beeping machines and a million people does that.
