Can someone point me to a non-hysterical site about how much formula your infant should consume once they start solids? The only one I found with numbers says 30 ounces but that's what B ate before solids on his hungriest day.
In the past week or so, B has become a pouch junky. We try to do actual food too but he will just grunt and whine until we produce the pouch. He's an expensive little bugger.
Day care has told me they were going to start giving him his formula in a straw cup because he will not drink bottles for them either. I've done that with limited success. He likes the sippy but doesn't seem to want anything other than pouches.
H was home with him today and B went through four pouches but only two bottles and a tiny bit of banana. He wouldn't take a bottle for me before bed either. [He also had oatmeal with applesauce in the morning.]
Also, how many puffs or "little crunchies" can babies have a day? I don't want to set him up for bad habits but he is just not happy unless he's eating something lately so we've used those in between meals.

No teeth yet, but do you think he might be teething? I think the sucking and bottles hurt their gums more than solids, so maybe the solids just feel better right now? But then again he's sucking with a pouch, so I'm not sure.
I think by nine months my boys were probably doing around 24oz of formula a day. About 4 6oz bottles.

Twenty four is a little more achievable. I read you can expect "erratic" feeding when starting solids but I'm feeling guilty he probably only got 12 ounces today.
He had what I thought was a reaction to his second flu shot from Monday to Wednesday when he was really cranky so it's possible it's teeth but we've been faked out so many times before thinking he was teething and still nothing.
DS hit a peek with milk and formula intake around 6-8 months, and then from 8 months onward his intake went from as much as 30oz daily, down to 18-22. He's actually pushing bottles away at this point. Today he definitely didn't hit 20oz.
Make sure the pouches he consumes contain dairy (smoothie or yogurt) and have high fat and protein (coconut for fat is good), and don't worry too much.
I'm not a doctor, obv.
DS downed a total of 1oz at bedtime tonight, and has had a trend of 2-3 for the past few weeks.

Ditto cloudbee since dd was 10.5 months her bottle intake decreased dramatically. Now I'm lucky if she drinks 15 oz. she went from drinking 6 oz bottles to now drinking 1-4 oz. I guess it will be an easier transition from the bottle? She also starting Loving food at this pint. Girl loves to eat!

Well at our 9 month the pedi said more solids less milk! He said only 16oz milk. I said um ok but I knew I wouldn't stick to that she loves her bottles. So anyway I think you are ok and no need to stress over 30oz if he doesn't want it. As long as he is growing on track.
Eta puffs and crunchies I give them several times a day sometimes when we are home. Probably 15-20 puffs or 10 crunchies at the most at a time. They are usually to buy me time to get real food prepared. The actual serving size is huge so you can give way more.
DD always had a hard time drinking from her bottles but once she started getting comfortable with solids, she really could care less about her bottles. She'll finish off a pouch in minutes but can still take 30 mins to finish off a 3 oz bottle. At this point, we're working with a feeding therapist on ways to add more calories to her solids. But 14-15 oz a day of formula is not uncommon for her these days.
I know this is probably a dumb question but do you offer the formula first? We don't show the food until the bottle has been consumed for the most part.
A serving size of puffs is something ridiculous like 75 of them.
FWIW, C takes between 24-28oz of formula a day and has for many months. Solids didn't really change that at all for us (yet).

Yes, always bottles first. Right after a nap he will take a bottle but if he's already awake he has no interest in it. And he HATES real food. I gave him some bread and he just keeps making a sour face.

C doesn't like bland things. If we give her plain bread or a plain waffle, she turns up her nose. If I put a little jam or some sunflower butter it, she's a happy camper. Are the pouches you giving B mixed flavors? Maybe he wants more adventurously flavored real food? I'm reaching, I know.

Yes always mixed. I looked for Sunbutter but we are out. I will try jam, thanks!
