Who needs a nice night out on the town when you can have a Heparin drip and hospital food?
I called my H on the way to the ER and told him what was going on, that I thought it was just a precaution and I'd let him know what the ultrasound showed. He wanted to come join me, but I held him off. I got a visit from a therapy dog in training (perk!). When the u/s tech told me she saw the formation of something new, I was dubious. In the same exact spot as my previous one? There's no way. Based on previous experience, I knew I was getting admitted so I called H and he came to join me. I had to wait for a while as my three doctors (my regular OB, consulting MFM, and PCP) played phone tag to determine whose care I was going to be under since they all have privileges at different hospitals. My regular OB remained in constant contact with me to let me know what was going on - I could tell he felt badly that the Lovenox failed (I'll get to that later).
So, it was decided that MFM would be taking care of me from here on out, so off I went to the high risk hospital via ambulance. I got my tour of L&D via gurney, LOL. Everyone was so nice there. I got a new Heparin drip and they decided to do another u/s on my leg since the other hospital was slow in sending over its records. Thank God they did - no new clot. Just the scarring from the previous one. Poor H had just walked in at this point after driving home to pack me an overnight bag and feeding/walking the dogs. So, after discussion amongst the MFM doctors that were on duty, it was decided that I should keep on Lovenox but go to twice a day and then they discharged me. At this point I'm too exhausted to even be mad about it. I hope they notified my regular OB that this was all a false alarm and his care was on point.
I did did learn some lessons:
If I get short of breath, that's the panic button to hit and I'll be going to the high risk hospital, not the other one.
My H does a decent job picking out outfits. Good job H!
My sexy underwear should be retired at this point, even on Valentine's Day.
I really need to keep up on my shaving.
Through it all, the baby was A-OK if a little pissy that so many fetal heart tones were taken. He kicked my bladder extra hard for that.
