Cereal isn't really necessary these days is it? Baby is FF so does he have to have cereal at some point. Both grandmas think he should but is like to skip it if it's not really nutritional valued.
we started with other foods, but he gets whole grain oatmeal for breakfast most mornings. Our doc (and it seems the consensus on here) says it's not necessary like our moms and grandmas think it is!
Not necessary. The point of introducing it (or any other solids) is to get them used to the idea of solid food. We did it for a couple of weeks, but plenty of people go straight to other foods (avocado, sweet potato), or BLW.
Don't let the relatives sway you if it's not what you're into
If they're talking about cereal now...no way Jose. C is way too young and the early cereal intro idea is pretty outdated. If they're talking about cereal when he's ready for solids, its not necessary from a nutrition standpoint but won't hurt anything. FWIW, we skipped it and went straight to veggie puree.
I just saw how old he is. Yeah, now is the time to not even get into it with the grandparents. "That's a great idea, we'll have to think about that" works really well
