FTM on planet earth.
DD has a white spot right on the inside of her mouth where her top & bottom lip crease. She also has these white little bumps on her bottom lip, on both sides. I keep trying to look around the rest of her mouth, but she is not having it. I'm convinced she has thrush. I just made an appt w/ the pedi.. gawd, i annoy myself.. but after all the BF issues that we have, I'm just so paranoid.
I only BF her 3x the entire weekend bc my nipples are in such a sad state; I was trying to let them heal.
What kind of sad state are they in? The first time I had thrush I just thought it was nipple damage that wouldn't heal.
Red, but they've been that way since DD was born, basically. Left one has little abrasions/scabs on it. Those are finally starting to heal. They are swollen at the base pretty much all of the time. Left one is a little flaky, that is new as of yesterday. Right one doesn't have the flaky. I nursed her on the R this wknd (3x) because the Left nipple is in much worse shape. It's actually not the nipple itself, it's more the base of the nipple. The L nipple had a few little scabby places on it, but it's mostly around the bottom of my nipple.
I have never talked about my nipples so much in my life. I don't have any shooting pains, which is what I've read happens with thrush. I only have pain when DD nurses, and it's not all the time, or constant.
I had it without her having it, so the opposite could also be true. The plus side is you'll both go on anti-fungals even without you showing symptoms, so if thrush is causing you issues as well it'll clear up. It just took us one round to kick it, so hopefully if it's thrush the same will happen for you!
Yeah I never had the shooting pains, but it was like a scabby itchy patch on the areola that wouldn't go away and which eventually spread all the way around. I thought it was damage from a bite until it showed up on the other side too. So it definitely sounds like a possibility
If your DD does indeed have thrush, you should get yourself treated too.

I have been putting a combination of shit on my nipples for days, because the LC told me that she thought I had "biofilm" .. its antifungal, anti itch & antibacterial cream.

gah. There is one spot on my left nipple that looks way worse than the rest. Who do I call for me, if she does indeed have it?
I guess your regular dr? Not sure how it works in the States.
You can treat OTC in the meantime with athletes foot cream or, home remedy that worked fantastically for me, a solution of roughly 3 parts water 1 part vinegar (benefit is that you don't have to wash it off before nursing). Oral anti-fungals are going to work the most quickly and you need an rx for those.

I've been using this. Pretty sure it's the same thing sometimes called 'triple nipple' cream. An LC told me it should help with yeast issues since it has an anti fungal. But since the baby has it, you might need more powerful stuff. Sorry to hear it. :-( I know how frustrating it is to have one thing after another causing problems!
That does sound like thrush. Dd2 had thrush forever-from about 3 weeks to 4 months. It was crazy. I never had any symptoms, but I assumed I must have it because hers just wouldn't go away. We were both treated for it, but it really took a crazy long time.

Big hugs. Go to the pedi. It's okay if it's nothing - I went last week because dd was touching her ear weird and it was nothing! I hope you get answers soon.
Regardless of her, it sounds like you have thrush. See your OB or midwife. You might very well need stronger meds than what the LC gave you and you have to do more than just meds (for you and your DD at the same time). Everything that touches your nips or milk or her mouth needs to be sterilized or treated daily to kill the yeast. It is a giant PITA but you have to do it to keep the yeast from coming back as soon as you stop treatment.
