Anyone deal with this? I don't know if I have it for sure but the last few days my hands have been achy, especially when I try to bend them. I also wake up in the middle of the night with my hands numb and tingly like they have fallen asleep. Anything I can do for this? Do I need to let my midwife know?
Yeah I had it. It was much worse in my right hand which makes sense as I'm right handed. Mine was mainly caused by my swelling. I had the most awful swelling. A brace helped so I wore it during the day but took it off at night to sleep.
I had it really bad and now at 4m PP my hands are numb 75% of the time. I'm seeing a neurologist this week.
My OB said it could take 6mo-1yr for PP carpal tunnel to go away. He said there are several specialists who will clip the tendon? or whatever and it is an expensive procedure, but he did not recommend it. My fingers are still numb about 50% of the time. It is still uncomfortable for me to put my rings on.
Omg. Is THIS what I have? My thumb to the middle of my ring fingers are numb on both hands. All the time.
I've been meaning to see the doctor about it. I thought it was pg. Related but when it didn't go away w\in a few days of giving birth I assumed it wasn't.
I feel you, i had this too for the last 4 months of my pregnancy, and I was so scared when it didn't get better pp. dr said there really wasn't much they could do apart from surgery but it disappears on its own in most cases. Overnight my pain disappeared about 11 weeks PP.
I had this as well for the last couple months of pregnancy. It was mainly in my right hand and I wore a brace first just at night and then sometimes during the day as well. The brace really didn't help much. I am about 3 months PP and it is pretty much gone. I sometimes get a pins and needles feeling in my hand, but very rarely at this point.

That sounds familiar. I had it the last 10 weeks of my 1st pregnancy and the entire time I breastfed. I lived in my splint. Get one made for females -- I think mine was pink and grey from the drugstore? But it was smaller and helped. I slept in it.
I had it pretty badly while pregnant this last time. Both hands were numb and weak. It is noticeably better at 3 months PP, but not quite normal yet. The braces helped a little, but not much. My doc also said it could hang around for up to a year after giving birth. Hang in there - hope you feel better soon!

Nooooooooo this makes me so sad. Im so tired of having stiff and numb fingers.
It makes it hard to work on the computer all day and sometimes it really hurts to bend my fingers. and my hands are going numb as I type this on my phone.
This is one of those "things they don't tell you" about pregnancy things, like pooping on the table
I had this in the 3rd tri. I did nothing about it, but it sucked for sure. Oh well, I iced my hands a few times, but that's it. I suffered through it and counted down the days. :-(
It went away like, the day after I delivered though!!
A girl I work with just had her baby last week, and she suffered just about her entire pregnancy from carpal tunnel. Until then, neither one of us knew that it was common for pregnant woman to get it. Anyway...she used this wrist wrap called BFST (blood flow stimulation therapy) everyday and said it did wonders for her. Just wanted to carry that message forward www.kingbrand.com/Carpal_Tunnel_Syndrome_Treatment.php?REF=46PV90
I had it - never expected that my wrists would be one of the most painful pregnancy side effects I had. Mine did last about 6 months PP, but it was slowly getting better during that time.

I have been wearing braces since around 20 weeks. I tried to go without a few weeks ago as a test run but it was a no go. My hands haven't swollen though and I can still wear my rings so I think getting the splints so early on was good.
I am really disheartened to see it stays pp, I thought it would go as soon as I gave birth.
