One of my very good co-worker friends resigned from her position this morning due to medical issues, and I'm really sad about it. She packed up her stuff and today was her last day. On one hand, I'm happy that she's leaving to take care of herself - she has missed so much work due to back problems (she was in a horrible horrible motorcycle accident years ago), migraines, other illness problems - so she should be taking the time to get better, but I'm still sad that I won't have my friend to talk to whenever I walk down the hallway, especially about our pets and my pregnancy. She has been a wonderful support system through my whole pregnancy, and I'll definitely miss having her around.
Luckily she lives close by so I hope to see her a couple of times a month, I'm just having a sad day. I'm trying to keep in mind that this is absolutely the best thing for her, but I can't help feeling selfishly sad to see her go.
One cheery thing in this crappy day is that one of the attorney's brought his 6 month old daughter around because his wife was visiting since she had the day off, so I got to pinch chubby baby cheeks and thighs - that helped my day a little bit.

Thanks ladies. Unfortunately they won't even hire a replacement for her - they are just going to move around some of the other admins to fill her spot but we are still going to be short staffed. it's going to be laughable if they don't hire someone by the time I go on mat leave in June - i have no idea who will cover my work the 3 months I plan on being out.
