Mine was 20-25mins per side. I was never a fan of being her pacifier though.
But I also treated nursing as meal time, so if it seemed like she was losing interest and not swallowing, I would play with her cheek to get her to swallow or start to break off and see if that "woke" her up.
I cut off when they fall asleep and/or are no longer swallowing and haven't been for a few minutes. Sometimes they'll immediately go nuts and then I know they weren't done.

I usually do 10-12 min per side (his normal eating pattern). If after 10 on the 2nd side he's asleep or just comfort sucking, I try to lay him down in his crib. If ds1 is napping, I'll let him sleep on me but it's hard when ds1 is awake.
At that age - no. I let her be on as often and as long as she wanted.
Now that she's older - yes I will cut her off if I know she's done eating. I also close up shop when she pulls off and wants to just play with my nipple. Newp!

Yes, I start to get touched out around 20 minutes per side. After that, I would pop her off and give the paci. She would let me know if she was still hungry by screaming.

I def would pop her off if she just seemed to be playing. She'd let me know with this panic in her face that she wasn't done and try to grab the air with her mouth. Then she'd re-latch and begin swallowing so I knew she meant business lol
ETA I just realized he's still on the young side. In that case, I certainly did my share of sitting on the couch and letting her stay sort of attached while she napped and I watched TV. But not always, and not much beyond that age. But that was my personal preference. I'm really not a fan of comfort sucking the boob.
Yes. Pretty much every time. But DS is much older now and a huge piggy (and a chunk). I think I did pretty early, but the kid literally NEVER comes off on his own. He was also gaining exceptionally well from the beginning (he doubled his birth weight by something crazy like 3 months). So all in all, my post is completely useless.

If I can sit there and let him comfort nurse endlessly, I do. However, if he's clearly just sucking to pacify and finished eating, I often pull him off so that I can help DD with something, do something productive, lay him down, etc. DS is 14+ lbs at 2 months, so he is well fed, to say the least. Once I know he's finished eating, I have no problem pulling him off, and he tends to be OK with it.
I wonder if he's fussing because he's still hungry or because he wants to suck to soothe. I know my DS uses nursing for soothing as much as he does for nutrition, it seems.
