Breastfeeding children older than 3

I know a firefighter whose wife is still breastfeeding their 8 year old. There are younger kids also, who are breastfed as well.

They're also Jehovah's Witnesses, and he's just plain weird. There's a whole lotta crazy in that family.

I'm breastfeeding a two year old with no signs of weaning, But since it's not his main nourishment, he gets food while we are out. I only nurse at bedtime and mornings and naps now.

My aunt BF my cousin until she was 5. The only reason she stopped was because of kindergarten. She was also the treasurer for her local LLL.

Is this happening in public? I'm more likely to be skeeved in public than I would be if I just had knowledge that she does it at home. I'm not anti-nursing/anti NIP in any way but four just seems a leeeeetle old to be doing it IMHO.

I'm wholeheartedly in favor of breastfeeding and extended breastfeeding, as much as I'm in favor of formula feeding, but mostly I'm in favor of people doing what needs to be done with regard to parenting their own kids. And I'm in favor of staying out of their business. Like I'm in favor of them staying out of mine.

I think it's odd but I only side eye if it's in public. Once your kid is old enough to understand that we don't have apples, eat a sandwich, they are old enough to have some orange juice and get the boob later.

Weird in public. I cab see how it might be hard to discourage it in public if you do it at home though.
