I'm looking at going somewhere in early May, leaving Friday after work and then returning home on Monday afternoon. Flight prices and times are about the same, either way we'd get there around 10pm and leave around lunch time.
I haven't been to Bergen or Copenhagen. H has been to Copenhagen and doesn't mind going back.
I love, love, love Copenhagen, and think a weekend is a good amount of time spent there. But if neither of you have been to Bergen I would probably do that, it is supposed to be great.
My vote is Copenhagen. It's more set up as a tourist city, I think.
I remember being scandalized by the price of the bus ticket from the airport into the city in Bergen, and I lived in Norway and knew their price levels!
We spent a long weekend in Copenhagen with some friends, and it was a good amount of time to see some of the city. Not everything, but a lot of the highlights.
A long weekend in Bergen is too much IMO. I've been to Bergen a few times, and the first weekend we had one day and saw the big highlights. The next time we were there for another day and were already moving on to some of the lesser-known sights on the outskirts of the city. I think we would have been scraping the barrel with a third day. It's not a very big place.
That said, if you wanted to do the Norway in a Nutshell tour, that could be an option. However, I think doing a roundtrip from Bergen would be a bit disappointing, because you'd miss some of the great scenery on the Oslo-Bergen rail line. It's often in the Top 10 lists of scenic rail journeys, but a lot of the great stuff is between Oslo and Myrdal, so you wouldn't see that on a Nutshell trip that roundtripped from Bergen. However, if you could swing an open-jaw ticket with Oslo and Bergen at either ends, so you can do the one-way trip, I would change my vote to 2 days in Bergen and 1 day doing the Nutshell trip. Of course, this all assumes you haven't already visited the Norwegian fjords.

I haven't been to Bergen but I love Copenhagen. It's one of my favorite cities anywhere ever. Also, their airport is one of my favorites if not "the" favorite as well (not that you should go for the airport but it is a thing of beauty). There's so much to do in Copenhagen and the surrounding area. Thumbs up, just maybe pass on the zoo.
