What do you want to do while you are here? Also I like Midtown but curious as to why you chose it to stay. I would stay in Buckhead for the people watching factor alone. Also what types of food do you like? We have a great food scene here.
When we visited my brother in ATL he took us to Six Feet Under for dinner and then to Sundial for drinks - the bar spins and has great views of the city. sundialrestaurant.com and sixfeetunderatlanta.com
The food at Six Feet Under was great and the Sundial was a fun experience and had good drinks.
I live in Midtown, so I am biased but it is my favorite area of the city.
If you go to the aquarium they have a special thing where you can meet and feed the sea otters or the penguins. I haven't done it yet but really want too.
Midtown is far more walkable then Buckhead, it is easier to get to Marta as well. There are also a lot of great restaurants in this area.
You can rent a bike at Piedmont park and hop the Beltline. It is a bike path that will eventually circle the city. Head to Inman park for a bite to eat. Fritti, Pure Tacqueria or Barcelona are some options there. Depending on what weekend you are here there is also a large art festival in Peidmont park.
The weather is beautiful here in April and there are lots of restaurants with great patios.
Great places that locals go for beer and food. Holeman & Finch, Woodfire Grill (Fancy), the General Muir, 4th and Swift, Antico pizza (you sit in the kitchen it's noisy and wonderful owned by Italians). If you want good local BBQ you can't beat Fox brothers.
In Midtown some of my favorites, Cypress Street Pint and Plate, great pub grub and atmosphere, South City Kitchen, Henry's, and Top Flr.

Cosigning with the Bolded.
I am sending her to Buckhead for the people watching at night, it CANNOT be beat. Also OP Antico has no corkage fee( someone chime in if that has changed) so most everyone brings their own beer or wine. Their Pizza is amazing. If you like Ethnic food we have it. Head up Buford Highway here are a couple of my favorites:
Finally OP you said someone wants to go to Uncle Julios? This one has Specials the one on Peachtree Street does not : www.unclejulios.com/locations/sandy-springs/ $10.00 for Chicken Fajitas on Sundays is a steal.
I am not a fan of Uncle Julio's but I guess if it is a must then go The Varsity is an Atlanta institution but it is really greasy, be prepared.
We like Fox Brothers bbq but if you have a car either The Greater Good (on Roswell Rd) or Community Q (on Clairmont) are better. El Taco in the Highlands is one of our favorite casual Mexican places. Ecco is awesome for a nice meal. Miller Union is good too. King + Duke in Buckhead is amazing, seriously. Same with St Cecilia. Antico is great pizza, so is Fritti.
Piedmont park is nice. There is a botanical garden in it. It's also worth it to drive out to Stone Mountain (only about half hr from Midtown, I believe). Hike up the "mountain" for a fantastic sunset (bring a picnic), and you can stay for the laser show and fireworks after dark (so kitschy it's funny). I like JCT kitchen for southern food.

The laser show is only on one week in April (the 5th-12, then the 19th and 26th).
the Hyatt in Midtown, (on 10th) has just been remodeled. It looks fantastic from the outside. I don't know about the inside. It's right in the heart of Midtown Hotel Indigo Loews W it's on the park and has a really cool bar. There is a Renaissance on West Peachtree that is always busy.
I honestly haven't really stayed in a hotel here. I've had people from out of town happy at the one that I've listed, except for the new Hyatt.
