I read your grocery post about online ordering at the grocery store and decided to try it today. For $6.95, someone shopped for me and even put it in the car. Bonus, no impulse purchases. I may never set foot in a grocery store again! ({)
I did this for the first time last week. My grocery charges a $4.95 fee for pick-up, or they'll deliver for $9.95.
I drive right by the store on the way home, so it was perfect! I made a shopping list and weekly menu while bumming around on Sunday, placed an order and picked it up after work on Monday.
I know not everyone has the same experience, but produce from peapod was crappy and it was generally more expensive than where I usually shop (Meijer or Dominick's).
Those of you who have ordered for pickup/delivery, was the produce selection up to your standards? I hate the idea of not picking out my own vegetables.
We have a local delivery service that shops at several different stores. The produce has been superb.
The produce is meh. This week I got 2 peaches (among other things) -- one was great, the other was mealy. I don't think they spend much time choosing it, but Harris Teeter has decent produce overall, so usually it works out.
Somewhere like Giant (who does Peapod, right?) I wouldn't expect great produce from them.
