Ugh, I have my 3 hour GD test tomorrow morning since I failed the 1 hour. Any advice or tips? I know to pack something to eat right after since I can't eat anything after midnight tonight. They said I could drink water throughout, for those of you who had to do the 3 hour did drinking water help you not feel so sick from the drink? Any other tips? I plan to take my tablet and a book to read. Ugh, I'm so hoping I pass, but I've kind of already resigned myself to the fact that it's very possible I won't.

Drink water throughout. Walk around if you can, my lab was next to a Target, so I would walk in between blood draws. It helps metabolize the sugar. Definitely bring something to eat after, I almost passed out. I would even bring and OJ or something bc ironically, my blood sugar was really low afterwards.
Walk around if you can. I failed the first draw of the three hour because I didn't move because I felt sick. The next two I went to a store, walked around, etc (which is more realistic than just sitting still in a chair IMO) and the last two numbers were fine.
Thanks for the move around advice! I will leave the tablet and book at home and plan to move around. For the 1 hour, which was still in my horribly miserable first tri, I just sat there trying not to hurl or fall asleep. I will walk around the hospital grounds in between checks. I don't think I can get to any stores like Target to walk around in between, it would be about a 15 minute drive. But the lab is in a doctor's building on the hospital grounds so I can walk around there. It's supposed to be kind of warm tomorrow. Plus I hate being hot when my stomach is upset anyway, so being in the cold air sounds preferable!
My lab wouldn't let me leave or drink water. My OB practice orders the two-hour test by default, so I was there for a while...bring a book or two in case the first isn't enough to hold your interest. It really wasn't as bad as I expected.

My lab also wouldn't let me leave or drink water. I brought my iPad and had movies on that to watch. I got a bit dizzy, between draw one and two but other than that I was ok.
Oh, and if your prenatal vitamins have fish oil in them for the DHA, take them after you are able to eat again. I didn't think about this and was burping fish taste for 3 hours and it was AWFUL.

I would still bring your book. Some labs will not let you leave. So walking around a small waiting room for 3 hours might get boring. Lol
LOL I'm just picturing myself walking around a lab waiting room for 3 hours. People will seriously think the crazy was brought to the lab tomorrow! I will bring a book though, just in case. Thanks for the heads up

I've only had a 2 hour test. I wasn't allowed to drink water or leave. I felt ok. I brought a book but mostly played on my phone. I made sure to pack snacks to eat when I was done.
I don't have anything to compare it to, but it wasn't too bad. I hope it goes well for you!

Oh that sounds awful!! My prenatal vitamins do have DHA, but I take them right before bed so no worries there. But I appreciate the advice, that would suck!
When I took mine, we weren't allowed to leave, but were allowed to drink water, which helped a lot. I thought it was fine, but the advice to eat something ASAP should not be taken lightly- I waited until I got back to work and felt like total shit for about 20 minutes until the food kicked in. Good luck!!
