A group of co-workers took me out for lunch today as a casual baby shower. They gave me a card signed by various people, and a single Amazon gift card.
Should I assume that everyone that signed the card pitched in on the gift card? I want to thank this one person who signed it (but wasn't at lunch). But if she didn't chip in, I don't want my "thank you for the gift!" to come off as sarcastic.

Did everyone at the office sign the card or just some people? If it's just some people, I would assume it was a "sign the card if you contribute" sort of deal. Maybe she just couldn't make lunch for some reason.

This might be unique to my office and department but with something like this, where we give a gift and a signed card, the person usually routes a thank you note around the department and each person sees it. Some people might have not contributed but the card still goes around to everyone so they can see it.
