Do you go all AMURCA! and display the USA flag, (for the Americans, I mean) or do you have something else on display? We have a flag holder, so I figure why not, might as well put it to use.
We have one and I've thought about getting a flag, but I am not sure whether I'd go patriotic or something else. I don't think I could do the seasonal flags. There are folks who hang their college or university's flag, but I went to a small college and it would be like WHUT?
I want one! Mainly because I want a house divided IU/Purdue flag, and I'm a dork.
One set of neighbors had an LSU flag up for a while and replaced it with an IU flag. I can't recall if they've ever had an American flag. Maybe for Independence day? Others in the neighborhood fly various school and country flags.
My bff neighbors have a full sized flag pole and fly the American flag every day.
I used to be REALLY into my flag holder, but it doesn't work at this house:(.
Let me know if you want my flags BAMFMrsB! I have quite the holiday collection
awwwww, you're sweet! I really don't think MrBAMF would go for holiday flags. He is PAR.TIC.U.LAR about astethics. Not serial killer particular, just VERY opinionated. Whimsy is NOT his bag. I had to go toe-to-toe over the holiday lights we bought last year. We got ones for our front porch, but it was after Christmastime when I finally got him to agree to a certain style. So we have them for this year.
Ok I'm probably being sensitive to this but wtf is " 'Murica" about flying the US Flag? I've always heard 'murica in a negative, stereotypical, and derogatory voice. To say that about flying the US flag is offensive. I wasn't aware that being proud of your country, your flag, and the people that fought to give you the right to fly it was showing extreme patriotism, I thought it was being an American.

I had this same thought. We have a flag holder, and I use it. Sometimes it holds sports teams (presently has Syracuse) and sometimes it has holiday or other fun flags. But it generally has the American flag. I even bought a little solar panel light so it's properly lit at night. I see nothing wrong with displaying the American flag and I'm about as non-redneck as one can be.

I was being sarcastic in my use of the phrase. Because we're about as far from that as possible. I apologize that the sarcasm did not translate well. I will be more careful in my word choice next time.

No, your sarcasm translated just fine. I was irritated that the OP felt the need to mention it in the first place.
My flag holder came down when we had some painting done.
I'll hang a new one in the spring. DS likes to fly a flag on patriotic holidays. One of DS's most prized processions is his flown-over-the-Capitol flag he got from our congressman when he made Eagle Scout.
It wouldn't occur to me to hang a holiday flag and I don't know that we could come to a consensus regarding which college or university to fly. DH's? Mine? DNiece's? DS's?

Because it is funny. Unclench. Things in this world do not need to be all "patriotic, or GTFO of here." I assure you, I meant no ill will toward ANYONE who flys the ol' stars+stripes.

We have a flag holder, but nope - no flag will ever fly there. I already know what country I live in and hanging an American Flag - or any flag is NMS.
One of my neighbors ran for mayor and put a big flag pole in his yard. The neighbor across the street already had a flag pole, so they outdid the mayoral candidate by inserting a whole parade's worth of mini flags at the base of their pole. I think we have our quota of flags filled for the whole city.
We have a holder, but it will probably never hold anything. Unless they come up with an "earthling" flag. Or in the event that we have a kid who is enthusastic about flags. Whenever I see a non-American (as in YAY SPRING TIME, not another country) flag flying I always assume that either a daycare provider or a senior citizen lady lives there.

LOL, the seasonal decor flags are just one step from putting a concrete duck in front of your doublewide mani home in your 55+ community in central FL and dressing it as a Pilgrim for Thanksgiving. Just saying.

Funny, I react that way to Old Glory. The only people flying the American flag around here are ex-military seniors, schools, or government agencies; and the only time you see stars and stripes in my neighborhood is 4th of July weekend.
My town likes to imagine itself to be Mayberry so I'm used to U.S. flags being flown on patriotic holidays and also routinely in the boro where the vintage colonial and victorian homes are. In the boro they do bunting as well.

Decorative flags are very popular here. People do make statements with them. In my neighborhood there are various "welcome" flags. They are displayed heavily during garden tour week. Wine and grapes motifs are common. There are several rainbow flags. I have seasonal "welcome" motifs: winter is silver snowflakes on blue, summer is a pineapple, and fall is autumn leaves. None of them say "Yay spring" or have anything cartoonish on them.

I'm a flip flopper because I think historical homes with patriotic stuff is charming.
