We actually bought a wing back chair from Marshall's that is very similar to this:
And my husband bought wooden rocking chair runners and is converting it to a rocker. I'm so excited about it! I just don't love the style of gliders so this is perfect. I'll post pictures when it's done.
We got a Best chairs glider recliner that swivels..I love it! There are a few Best gliders I liked the look of more, but our nursery is really small so I liked that this one has the recliner in it and we don't have to have an ottoman taking up more space. Plus, it's so comfy!

I JUST read about this "hack" yesterday and am seriously thinking about it.

FastHands-If you get the actual Ikea chair, it should be extremely simple. The chair we got had square legs which made it really challenging to match up with the rockers so we ended up buying new round legs from Menard's. But once we got the round legs it was really easy (at least my husband said so!)

We got a Dutailier Deluxe with a rocking ottoman, which seemed like a ridiculous expense at the time but little did I know that DS would want/need to be rocked to sleep for over a year. The Deluxe was so it is extra tall to make sure DH could put his head back easily. It's not super attractive but sooo comfy and no squeaks even after nearly two years of daily use. I love it.

That is so cool! FastHands, can you tell me which Ikea piece works with this?

It's actually the stradmon (I think) that's pictured above. Though I think anything will really work. LIke narockshard mentioned, rounded legs will make your life easier (you can just drill a round hole of the right size rather than, idk, chiseling out for square..?). Here's the link I saw: interiorsbykenz.com/ikea-hack-strandmon-rocker-diy-wingback-rocking-chair/
We got the Tryp from Best Chairs--a lot of the ladies on MMM seem to like it. They had it at my Buy Buy Baby, and it is eligible for coupons. It's being delivered this week.

I (heart) NFM so much. Almost all of our furniture in our house has come from there. We almost bought this exact chair, but weren't going to be back in NE again any time soon to pick it up.
I also like the upholstered chair look and fell in love with a glider in a boutique that was something like $1200, not including the ottoman. That was not in the cards for us, but I found a very similar knockoff at Walmart (I know, I know, but it really is nice!) for 1/3 the price, including the cost of the ottoman. So, we got this glider: www.walmart.com/ip/Enchanted-Embassy-Glider-Espresso-With-Eggshell-Piping/10902322, plus the matching ottoman; they also have other variations on the style, we've been really happy with it!

We have a Best glider/rocker/recliner in each girl's room. The one we have for DD1 was discontinued (Rudee). DD2's is the same as the Tryp at BBB, but it has a different name (because Tryp is exclusive to BBB I think).
narockshard and FastHands, thank you! My H and I are the least crafty/DIY-y people ever, but this is blowing my mind. I think we may be able to handle it. Maybe.
I also have a dutailier with the gliding ottoman. It cost a fortune but it is amazing. So comfortable, I nursed and rocked my kids for hours. The fabric is beige microfiber and it still looks brand new after 7 years.

If you follow the instructions in the link exactly, I'm pretty sure you can handle it I'm not crafty at all, but I think I could have tackled it if my husband didn't do it. We made sure to set the chair on the rockers before drilling any holes to make sure we had them lined up how we wanted. Then once you mark the spots, you basically just drill the holes! We also just used our cordless drill with a spade bit like this:
I haven't seen any I like enough to spend that much money on, so I'm planning on getting a wingback chair I had been eyeing for our eventual library. I'll just move it out of the nursery once we don't need it for MOTN feedings anymore.
I think I'm going to get the Ikea Ektorp Jennylund chair and put a swivel rocker base on the bottom. I already have a swivel rocker so hopefully we can just take that piece off that chair and install on the new one, then put legs on the existing chair. I'm also going to look at the Poang - I've heard they're great for nurseries but they just don't look comfy for holding a baby, what with the wooden arms.
We have the Poang rocker and ottoman from IKEA with the white wool cover. It was like the most expensive combo ikea offered, ha. I would have loved an upholstered chair, but it wasn't in the budget. The Poang certainly does the job, and isn't uncomfortable, so I'm satisfied.

We have this chair as well in brown. We just got the basic bouncer style vs the true rocking chair and I love it with the ottoman, hopefully LO loves it too!
Gliders actually rock differently than normal rockers and rock well with a rocker ottoman. It's actually the only way I could nurse well with DD when she was a baby, and also get her to sleep. She needs the motion and I need to not fall out of the chair.
I got a storkcraft last time but it literally fell apart on me so I'm gonna try to find one a friend might not be using anymore or a garage sale find or something.
